My girls are outgrowing their tennis shoes and our trip is in 2 weeks. Any recommendations on what they should wear on their feet? Nothing will be broken in by then, although they will ride in a stroller a lot. I could buy them new tennis shoes or would sandals be good idea? Maybe they could wear them with socks.

I had to buy my 2 toddlers new shoes recently too. I got them sandlals because they will be riding in the stroller most of the time; sandals will at least be cooler on their feet.

If they will be spending a decent amount of time in the stroller I wouldn't worry about it. My dd wore sandals most of our last trip, I am a bit of a shoe addict and she had about 6 pairs of shoes/sandals to go with different outfits. As long as they are able to wear them a few times at home before you go you should be able to predict if there will be any problems.

I LOVE these Keds for dd (3)

She has worn this general style 2 years in a row. She can wear them with or without socks. They look cute w/ dresses, shorts, pants, anything! I have a ton of shoes for dd (I have serious issues when it comes to her clothes... bad Ebay :badpc: ) She had 15+ pairs last summer and ended up wearing these 90% of the time

I found dd's this year at Kohls. There are several versions and can be found many places. I love how easy they are to get on/off.

I got her a pair of the knock-off Crocs (they don't make the real ones in such a small size). I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to get her to wear anything else - but... that's another thread :rotfl:

I just bought those same keds for my DDs 2 and 5. I got the 2 YOs on sale for $18 at Belks and ordered the 5 Yos from eshoes.com. They were $30 with free shipping. I've worn this style on them for a few years. I like them with dresses or shorts. I only buy them Stride Rite sandals as they seem to work best. They can get a bit expensive though. I have two umbrella strollers and a stroller connecdtor, so both girls will ride a lot too.

You don't say how old your children are, but my husband and I just went through this for our trip next month. My youngest is 7, and in the sumer she wears flip-flops or other sandals constantly. They are comfortable for her and she walks fine in them. DH wanted her to have tennis shoes for the trip, so we compromised on these shoes by Land's End:

All the support of tennis shoes, with the venting of sandals. She loves them, so we are all happy. Even my 9 year old DS got a pair. I wish they had them in my size!

If you let them wear sandals or flippers, be SURE to sunscreen the exposed skin. My DH burns his feet every summer the first time he wears flip flops and he's always miserable.

If they can get a couple of more weeks wear out of their old shoes, I'd let them wear them. Shoes take a beating there anyway with rain showers and sweaty feet. I scrapped the top leather off a big spot on my New Balances there and never did figure out how.
