Shoes for Disney?!

I have had the Malindi style of Crocs for 4 years and LOVE them. I've never had foot pain when wearing them but I've never worn them to WDW. I totally flattened a pair of Reef flip flops at WDW over 10 days but they definitely weren't new. The Crocs I took for DH to wear to the pool were the only shoes that didn't hurt my feet by the end of that trip.

I love the Crocs flip flops I've had for a couple of years. It's like I'm barefoot. I don't really have arches though. I can't wear Birkenstocks because I feel like I'm walking on a ball. My Mom has high arches and loves her Birkenstocks, though. My kids wore Keens on our last trip and never once complained about their feet. DH wore his Nikes and had blisters galore.

Brooks and Mizuno are the way to go in my opinion. You should go to a running store and have your feet analyzed so you get a shoe designed for the way you step. It makes a world of difference, especially if you have sensitive feet.

Wow thank you everyone!!! I do agree I should go get my feet analyzed. Pretty sure I'm working with flat feet and I tend to roll them to the outside when I take a step. I think they call it overpronation or something. I tried on this pair of Mary Jane style crocs at Khols one omg were they comfortable!! I'm not a croc fan but oh boy they were awesome. I think I definitely will take a couple pair of shoes and rotate them.

My mom tends to walk on the outside of her feet and she was told to wear Brookes. She doesn't have any more problems, and has a pair in every color! lol

Mizuno are my favorite sneakers. While I love love love my Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flops, I couldn't imagine walking in them all day at the parks. I went to a local sneaker specialty shop and tried on a whole bunch of sneakers and found Mizuno's fit me the best. Favorite sneakers.

I need shoes that offer support and ones that keep my feet cool.

The past seven trips to WDW I have chosen only ONE shoe and it's the sketcher's reggae rasta. There is ample support and I can walk miles and miles and still feel great. It's shocking how awesome they are! And they come in many colors too!

I love these sandals -- I have them in 3 colors and the oldest pair I've had for years. They hold up really well and they work for my feet. I do take a pair of running shoes to change things up on a long trip, but I wear these sandals almost exclusively in spring and summer. The toe loop also helps keep my toe in place (have a bunion on one foot). They can be found for $30 or less, too.

I would invest in some good running shoes soon, and spend the time before your trip breaking them in. is there a running room (or something similar) near you? somewhere that can evaluate your feet and walking style and suggest shoes that will work best for you?

I went last August and I was worried my feet would be roasting in running shoes, but the great support and thick soles were exactly what I needed on all that concrete. Like a PP said, don't skimp on socks either. good, wicking socks will keep your feet cool, even in thick shoes.

I also like to take my comfy birks, but I don't wear them very often.

I'm intrigued by all the love for Skechers. I always thought they were a crummy shoe brand. I went on Amazon and Zappos and they have almost universally great reviews for every shoe. I'm going to have to check them out!

I KNOW. I was the same way. I thought they were junk shoes, they were when I was in HS! They've definitely come a long way. I bought a pair of everyday mary jane style Sketchers with the memory foam and they're unreal comfortable. Pricey, but good!

I ordered a pair of the Good Life slip-on sneakers with memory foam. Should give me plenty of time to break them in since I don't have another trip planned for 16 months! Haha, I needed some kind of good walking shoe anyway, so this actually will give me a chance to see if these would work for me at Disney.

I've heard some amazing reviews for the Sketchers GoRun, and since I want to start jogging I feel like they will be a good choice overall. I bought some Teva Mush flip flops for casual walking and I feel like if I swap out those with the sneakers I'll be okay. Hopefully :/ I hate foot pain!!

Skechers Reggae Rastas are pretty much the only shoes I wear at Disney. I have 4 pair in various colors. If it's cold, I'll wear a pair of Bobs.

Ooooh I like those! And they don't kill your feet after a full park day?

Nope! Tons of support. I haven't taken tennis shoes in years.

Craziness! and they're like a third of the price of Teva's. SOLD! I suppose if I get those to swap between the running shoes I'll have the happiest feet of life :dancer:

Everyone's feet and needs are different. Personally, I refuse to wear Nike, they always killed my feet. New balance are my favorite.

Here in central New York we have a store (fleet feet), it maybe a chain, I do not know. Anyway, they recommend shoes specifically for your feet and what you are going to do with them. They can be a little pricey and tend to focus on runners, but I have heard of several people who bought their shoes just for walking and we extremely glad they went through fleet feet. My dad bought a pair there a few years ago just for wdw and was thrilled he did.

You may not have that store, but look into a specialized running store where the employees are actually trained to fit sneakers to the customer and not to just push sneakers to you.

I'm not sure if there is a place out here like that but I agree that's where I should look! I'll google it!

I ended up purchasing a pair of Sketchers Reggae Sandals and a pair of Sketchers SketchAir 2.0's! I figure I'll swap those out and use some good moisture wicking socks for when I wear the sneakers. Thanks to all!

I'm prone to blisters. People I've talked to say that Crocs are the way to go but I'm afraid that the back strap will rub the back of my heel and cause a problem. I'd like to hear from people who have worn Crocs in the park. How did you do?

I usually just wear my oldest sneakers, but the result is always having to swaddle my feet in bandages like some foot-fetish mummy by the third day of the trip. o_O
