I am trying to decide on taking flip flops or water shoes into the waterparks. Does anyone know what you do with them while you are on rides? Do they let you wear them? And would you recommend flip flops or water shoes? Thanks!

I tried flip flops once. When they got wet, my feet slid off them so at the end of the day my toes hurt from trying to hang on.
Most dont let you wear thom on slides, but you can take them off "hug" them.

I don't do the body slide type ride but the tubing rides or lazy river or pools - the water shoes were great, I got to keep mine on all day

I highly recommend water shoes, or at least some water sandals that have velcro straps.
In May, I had my watershoes on and had my friend wear my strap sandals. She had flip-flops and was already getting a blister from them. The pavement gets really hot and you'll be glad to have those watershoes on!

Water shoes, but invest in a good pair unless you are only going once. The cheaper ones tend to fall apart rather quickly with the inside insert always falling out or bunching up when you are walking around. Trying our new ones from Lands End this year. Pavement is hot, steps hurt the feet, can stub the toes and nothing worse than seeing a used bandaid on the ground and trying to avoid it with no shoes. EWWW. We have always been able to wear ours on all of the slides we have done.

I had the same problem. Once the top of the footbed gets wet, your feet slide around like crazy.

I don't wear water shoes while at the water parks (except my flip flops when going into the restroom!). Brought water shoes with me the first couple of trips, but didn't end up wearing them. I just go barefoot; I go in October, when I guess the pavement isn't as hot as the summer time. Never noticed the pavement being super hot.

It probably does depend a lot on what the temps are like when you are visiting WDW. We were at WDW last July and did both water parks with a day break in between. My DS 13 ended up with blisters on his feet after the first day from the hot pavement because he refused to wear shoes. I wore my water shoes. I think water shoes are your best bet because they are easiest to keep on. You will have to hold them for the big drop rides (like Summit Plummet or Slush Gusher) but the hassle of holding them seems like a fair trade to avoid blistered feet.

water shoes this past trip. In Typhoon Lagoon you can wear them on most rides as many use rafts of some sort. For body slides like Humunga Kawabunga and Storm Slides, I just held them in my hand as I crossed my arms.

cheapo water shoes that I bought at a yard sale for $1. They worked great, wore them 2 days at Blizzard Beach and then threw them away before we came home.

I would recommend something on your feet as you are walking ALOT at these water parks. Pavement can be hot and somewhat rough.
