Hi I know shoes have been talked about many times but. . . I wanted to know what kind of walking/running shoes you have had a good experience with. I live up in the Chicago suburbs so finding sandels now is hard plus after the trip I wouls just have to put them away. So therefore I am looking for shoes I can continue to wear when I get home. I have a pair of New Balance but I teach preschool and am on my feet a lot, they are sore by the end of the day. Any Ideas??? :confused3 Thanks!
11 days left! I need to start breaking in new shoes!

I know you said that you have some New Balance already, but I bought a pair of New Balance 700 cross trainers a week ago and they are great. I have been out walking everyday for 1/2 or more in them (4 hrs at the mall the other day) and they have been great. When we went two years ago I also had bought a new pair of New Balance cross trainers that were very comfortable. If you are not having luck with the New Balance try another brand. I think having a good pair of socks makes a big differance too. Good luck finding shoes. We will be there in 14 days! Hope you have a great trip! :)

I've had excellent luck with Rockport walking shoes. They are great even when standing all day and they don't have a big emblem, so I'm allowed to wear them to work.

I also love my New Balance, as well, but can't wear them to work.

I would never suggest sandals to anyone, no matter how much you wear them at home, and how broken in they are.

That says a lot, since I love flip-flops, and am strickly against sock tanlines!

I DO suggest bringing TWO pairs, different styles or brands, of the most cushy sneakers you can find. If your feet are sore at the end of one day, switch to the second pair. Since the pressure points will be different, your feet will not hurt, and yesterday's sore points will heal for the coming day.

I am TRULY AMAZED at the footwear choices people make at WDW, and am baffled by the number of high-heels, and even STILETTOS, I saw!

:flower:

I purchased New Balance shoes as well. I paid a more by going to the "New Balance Shoe Store" but they are the best wearing shoe I have ever purchased.

I run an afterschool program and teach preschool 2 afternoons a week and like you, am on my feet a lot! This year I invested in some quality clogs http://www.sierratradingpost.com/product.asp?wc=true&base_no=68558 (can't beat that price!!! They're like Danskos, but these have the American Podiatric Association seal of approval) and they are just incredibly comfortable!

A couple of weeks ago I wore them on a mile and a half walk... this was shortly after I got them and there were no blistering or discomfort issues.

One of the other teachers there wears danskos day in and day out with not complaints.

Seriously, I can't recommend them enough... From what I understand Danskos are frequently worn by chefs and medical professionals, who are on their feet a lot.

Can you tell I love my shoes? :Pinkbounc :bounce: :p

I'd also recommend the new balance shoes, if only because they are the only manufacturer that consistantly has 2E and 4E widths. Many people wear shoes that are either too narrow or too long so they're wide enough. And while we've yet to have injured feet while wearing properly fitted new balance shoes, there's not much you can really do shoewise when it comes to standing around...something you do a lot of in lines at WDW.

As for breaking in shoes, good high quality shoes don't need it. Wear them to make sure there are no poorly constructed parts that will rub, but you should never need to 'break in' any good high quality shoe.

Oh...some folks seem to be into something called 'Crocs'. They're artsy looking, but many people swear by them.

Good luck,
Joe

I got back last week and I spent the entire time in flip-flops. They cost £1.75 and my feet never bothered me.

I didn't have to worry about them getting wet either.

Tink76, I'm from the far south suburbs of Chicago so I know what you mean about finding sandals. I wanted a new pair for our previous trip in Aug. and had a hard time finding them even then.
I know their are alot of New Balance fans out there, but I for 1 can not wear them. Maybe I haven't tried enough of them, but the pairs I have tried do not work.
I work in a hospital and am on my feet all day. The shoes I have tried and that work very well for me are Saucony brand. You can find them at Kohls and Sports Authorities. These are the shoes that I take to DW and wear ALL day. My DH is one of those crazies that need to get the most out of his Disney Days. So we are out early each day and usually close the parks.
Just go and try on all brands of shoes, that is the only way you will find something right for you.

I'm one of those that swears by Crocs. Breaking in new shoes tends to be rather hard on my feet, so I always dread getting new ones. But just recently I got a pair of Crocks, and they are the most wonderful shoes I have ever worn. And they are a bit artsy, mine happen to be pink, but they do come in black so they don't stand out as much.

Either tevas, hiking boots or nike basketball boots imho. our hikers always give our ankles plenty of support, which mine desparately need after walking all day

I swear by New Balance. The trick to any shoe is getting it to fit properly. All of the physical therapists that I work with recommend New Balance.

It's worth paying a little more to get fitted at a place that really knows what they are doing.

I have also found socks to make a difference and I LOVE the New Balance socks with arch support.

I love my Crocs. They are so comfortable, lite, and fun. Iv'e bought mine at GI Joes and Shoe Pavilion. And unlike Tevas they don't get that funky smell. :paw:

I just have to say... I have a size 4E foot and at the age of 10 begged my mother to allow me to have my little toes entirely surgically cut off so that I could wear women's shoes.

35 years later, I now realize that many women's shoe styles are INTENDED to "hobble" women. I agree that women should wear shoes which are comfortable and work for them.

My only Disney advice is to wear your "tried and true" shoes to WDW. Blisters can slow you down and wear you out. :earsgirl:

I have one pair of Crocs that I absolutely love and am thinking about buying some more. Other than that I only wear New Balance and Birkenstocks. I wouldn't put anything else on.

Buy the CROCS - you will love them, and they are FUN! ! !

They still have 'em at Dicks & Sports Authority.....

You could even save them as "Disney" shoes.... and only use them, when youre there.

Also some NewBalance or Nike's with athletic socks.
Sometimes even Docksiders with no socks.

Some days are for lots of walking (World Showcase anyone)
Other times, it's camp out and wait for the parade!

Land's End SEA TO SHORE sport shoes. Tennis shoes you wear barefoot, so they are like sandles but MUCH more compfy! I wore them all over, all summer! You can order them online and they come in lots of colors!!!!!!! THEY ARE GREAT!!!
