Every time I've gone I've worn running shoes, but EVERY time I've ended up with a blister on the bottom of my foot under my big toe. I'm sure it has something to do w/ moisture and rubbing and thankfully it's never super painful (just uncomfortable, although it's huge!)

I'm hoping to avoid that this time by using gold bond powder on my feet and rotating shoes between my new balance, dansko and possibly my fitflops if it's warm enough.

For those who have tender feet, what do you wear to the parks? It's SO much walking, after a day I'm ready to be pushed in the stroller.:duck:

PS: Crocs don't provide enough support for my ankles so they aren't an option.

I'd like to know as well! I have Fila athletic shoes that I'm planning on wearing, but I don't know how we'll they'll work.

I find that really good moisture wicking running socks are really important in helping prevent blisters. Also rotating shoes helps hot spots fom developing. I often use my Keen Venice H2 sandals in the morning, and running shoes in the afternoon and evening after our midday break to help keep my feet happy. Make sure your shoes are well broken in before the trip!
My running shoes are Asics Nimbus 14.

I used to get a blister that same spot every time we went to DL or WDW, and sometimes on the top of my foot in that area too. There is a product called body glide that will stop it. I learned about it on the disboards. You can get it at most runners or cycling stores, sometimes at regular sporting goods stores, or online. I have not had even one blister in multiple DL and WDW trips since I started using it. I also used to blister every time I got a new pair of shoes and I use it for that too and I don't blister anymore. I just rub it all over my feet in the morning before putting my shoes on and no more blisters!

Do you wear running shoes regularly? Sometimes it's painful just to wear shoes your feet are not used to. I actually tend to be more comfortable wearing flats (which do have some support) because they're what I am used to, rather than any lace-up shoes, running or not. :confused3

So if you don't normally wear those shoes, definitely take a pair you do wear every day, just as backup.

U need to wear whatever your used to: I personally wear flip flops or boots depending on the season and I have no problems.

Try walking shoes, they will give you more support in the areas needed for walking in comparison to running shoes. But wear whatever makes you the most comfy(:

Yes I wear running shoes daily. I have horrible feet and they hurt if I don't. During the summer I wear my fitflops with no issue though.

Whatever shoes you decide on, I'd change shoes half way through the day. Besides my Rainbow flip flops that is the only way I get through the day without aching feet.

I am/was normally a sneaker girl at the parks, feet always sore, but I just suck it up. Last week they were soaked beyond soaked from the night before riding Grizzly 3x in row at closing, boy was that fun. I couldn't wear them, they were too wet so I only had flip flops to wear. I was so scared I wouldn't be able to walk by the end of the day, but you know what my feet felt better than with sneakers. I had on haavianas. Now I'm sold on switching them out.

So as others said, try what you normally wear for comfort, unless of course it's high heels :) haaahaaaa

I think that for what you describe, moisture-wicking socks are going to be the key.

I was a cotton kinda person until the people at Road Runner Sports convinced me to just TRY some of those socks, and I was very much sold after our first Disney trip with them. I have 3 of them, then I bought 5 pairs at Target, and they all work about the same as far as I can tell. Only blisters I got on our recent 8 day trip to DLR were from the flats I wore for my costume.

I'm also a shoe-switcher. And I love my Crocs Athens, which seem to work for me, but Crocs are really personal to the individual foot.

Switching shoes is a good tip. Also, we use wool hiking socks -- moisture wicking, cool when hot, warm when cold. No blisters! Bring molesking or blister bandaids in your purse/backpack. And find shoes that work for you well before your trip so you can break them in and do any troubleshooting ahead of time. We love our Keens (shoes, not sandals) -- for us, they work better than running/walking shoes.

I posted about this. See this thread. A lot of good suggestions. I leave in a few days and I'm still worried about my feet. I plan to change shoes throughout the day either starting with my running shoes or keen sandals. I have blister band aids, foot powder, non-cotton socks, foot spray, lotions, etc. so I feel prepared but I think they will still be sore. Good luck! I will report back after my trip.

For sore feet and leg muscles, don't forget the arnica (gel or cream). We like the gel for the cooling factor. You can apply it several times throughout the day, but make sure to rub it in well before going to bed. It really does help relieve the aches and soreness.
