Ok, I know everyone loves Croc's but I really think they are ugly, and as many times as I have looked at them, I just cant get my self to buy them.

So, my question is this, what do you wear to the world? My Dh and I are having a type of disagrement on what I should pack for the parks.
I say flip flops and sandles, he insists on sneakers. Since we cant get an agreement, he told me I should post it here to see who is right or wrongl.(typical male, someone always has to be right lol)

Thanks for your help, I have to pack in the morning for our trip on Sunday.

Cant wait till we are there.

Well if you think you can walk over 9 miles a day ( thats the average from what I've been told)on some thin flip-flops or sandles then thats OK.

But I agree with DH that support and cushion are the way to go.

I have 3 pairs of very nice Sneaker type Watershoes that I rotate each day or half day if return to resorts.

Dr. says you should wear shoes no more then 10 hrs at a time and rotate them on a per day basis.

YUP, OP...agreeing with DH on this....YES, I love sandals and have about 10 pairs....but for the WORLD it is ALWAYS every single trip a new pair of Princess Reebok's (white)! They are so comfy, look really nice and have NO break in time needed at all....I just love them. The Princess are not a big thick, sweaty sneaker...it is pretty lite-weight and very cushiony. I have heard many horror stories on here about people getting the backs of their sandals stepped on in causing them to fall or a badly scrapped heal. I just like the fact that I have a sneaker on that is all tied up and on my foot securely.

SNEAKERS FOR SURE IN THE WORLD. :thumbsup2

BTW: Have a BLAST on your TRIP.....l u c k y

I wear my running shoes (Brooks and Avia) and switch those out with a great pair of sandals that I know won't hurt my feet. The key really is wearing shoes that are comfortable for you, and switching shoes often.

Oh, and you'll never see me wearing Crocs either. I'm an OR nurse, and Crocs look too much like my work shoes, only uglier!

Personally I am packing all three. Sneakers, I am going to try out a new pair of Crocs and some sandals for the pool or dinner (birkenstocks so I am not sure if they count as flip flops.)

I have the Keen Newports. They are awesome, but pricey. That's what I wore last time. I did bring myself to buy a pair of the Croc Athens (Flip Flops), which I will be packing for the next trip. I wore Old Navy flip flops last year to Epcot and my feet never bothered me a bit. I always take a pair of sneakers, too...

Crocs really ARE ugly, but most of the owners of them swear by them. They are cushy and they are really light weight...sometimes I run on my treadmill wearing them (and I only have the knockoffs).

Last trip I didn't take sneakers and I was kinda sorry. I traded off a pair of Mickey sandals, a pair of addidas foot massaging flip flops and altho my feet were sore, I think that was from swelling and not from not being supported.
I agree that it is important to trade off to different shoes each day, and maybe even for parts of the same day.

Feets, keep walking! :cool1:

I hate crocs too. Did you look at the new crocs athens?? they look just like regular flip flops and relaly are pretty cute and they are HEAVENLY comfortable! the "gel" in the heel is over an inch thick. it is the most comfortable thing i've ever worn in my life.

A few years ago, I purchased a pair of Nike Straprunners for an August trip to the world. They are comfortable and provide support. The only problem is, they are difficult to find in stock! Although my pair is a bit worn, they'll be coming with me again for our June trip! I also plan to bring my sneakers!!!

I usually wear sandals, but they have to have good support. I like any style by Merrell, I can walk in them all day and my feet don't get sore. Sneakers just get too hot for me, and its not comfortable if they get wet on water rides. I just discovered Crocs and wear them to work ( I stand for 12 hours!) and they are great. I'm looking forward to trying them on our next trip in November.

We wear our Teva sandals EVERYWHERE....especially to our local amusement parks (which, of course, pale in comparison to WDW! lol) My husband, my son, and I each have a pair and we get incredible wear out of them.

I've been on my feet outside ALL day in various weather conditions and never once felt uncomfortable :-)

The last time we went to WDW we packed sneakers (just in case), our Tevas, and dressier shoes/sandals for some of our nicer ADRs.... We never wore our sneakers out for a day at the parks only because...well...when it rained (as it did often) or if we went on any of the water-related attractions, we would have been very uncomfortable in sopping wet sneakers!

Whatever you choose, make sure it's something that is most comfortable for each of you...and most importantly...make sure it's something that has been broken in! :-)

Enjoy!!!!!!

~Lauren

I can't bring myself to buy crocs either.... when we go to WDW, I generally wear athletic sneakers for comfort and to prevent blisters..... I also pack sandals if we're not going far from the resort :)

I pack sneakers and sandals and Teva's for WDW. By far my sneakers get the most use. Regular sandals in the evening or for a nicer restaurant, and Teva's just at AK where I know I will get wet on Kali River Rapids.
I believe the right answer is individual. You will walk many miles each day, day after day. The only right answer is what is broken in and comfortable for you. Blisters are no fun, and very easy to come by at WDW. I take my feet very seriously at WDW :rotfl: , because sore feet can ruin your vacation.
Why not pack both so you will have a choice while you are there?
