Has anyone here had any experience with Dansko Shoes... or ever heard anything about them? People have been talking about them at work that they swear by them now, but I am skeptical to try them since they are so expensive!

Any help would be appreciated! :)

I'm a nurse, and I swear by Dansko. They aren't cute, but they are so so comfortable, and they offer excellent support. I work 12h shifts in a very busy ER. I am lucky that there is an outlet near me, so I can get them about 40% off. My advice would be to try them on before purchasing. Since they are hand made, and European sizing the size you will need often differs from your regular shoe size. I wear a 1/2 size larger. I have had colleagues who wear up to 2 sizes larger than their regular shoe size. I guess it depends on the shape of your foot.

If I had to pay full price for them I would.

Funny! I am a nurse, too. Thanks for your input, I may just have to go try them on. :)

Love them! I teach and stand on my feet a lot during the day! They are pricey--but worth every penny. They last for years and years!

I just bought my first pair of Danskos a few weeks ago. I LOVE THEM. Already looking forward to getting more. I have horrible feet and work in the medical field and it has made a huge difference!

Oh, and allow plenty of time to break in the shoes. I wore them for half the day for about a week. Have fun shoe shopping! :goodvibes

Another nurse here. I like them as well and agree about trying them on for sizing. They are firm and feel almost hard at first. I believe the key is breaking them in slowly. It's a pain because who has time to worry about changing shoes during a shift so you may want to break them in during your time off. I wouldn't wear them more than 30 mins to an hour every few hours then start increasing the time worn over the next week. They do last forever.

another nurse here who swears by Danskos! love them, worth every penny, I have 3 pairs! I rotate colors.........LOL
I agree about the slow break in period too.

I was just in a local shoe store the other day looking at them and they have some cool designs and colors now ( if you aren't limited by what color you can get)

I work in a hospital as well and love my Dansko's. I've even started wearing them running errands and other things not at work. I definitely agree with trying them on first. Since they are hand made even those that are the same size fit differently.

I am really curious about these. I know many people who swear by them. When I have tried them on they feel awful. They felt as hard as if I were standing on wooden planks. I am a Croc wearer. The only shoes I can wear for very long are Crocs. I even have Merrils I paid a fortune for, but My feet hurt in them after a little while. I have Croc inserts in them which makes them tolerable to wear to work for 4 hours at a time, but by the end of the morning my feet are sore in them.

Has anyone tried (and liked) Danskos who previously could only wear crocs? I would like to be able to wear something other than crocs, but if I do not have lots of cushioning, the ball of my foot feets like it's being hit with a hammer. I have not met anyone IRL who has tried Danskos and doesn't like them.

I just got two pair of Clark Waves yesterday (normally $100 a pair on many sites - I got them for about $70 a pair plus free shipping from Footsmart) - one pair of Wave Run and one pair of Wave Wheel. Tried them on out of the box and they were very comfortable. Plus I think they helped my knees. Footsmart has them on sale still today, plus you should get free shipping. Nice room in the toes.

i work in a cafeteria and am on my feet 4.5 hours day on hard tile flooring. My Danskos have been a lifesaver for my feet!! When you first start to wear them they are very different then any other shoe...but man do they work!!

ok...I'm like a pp- I LOVE the crocs, nothing beats the comfort! but...in cold weather,I have a pair of dansko clogs,I think they're really cute though!:confused3 I like the way they look, and they give me a small heel so I look taller:thumbsup2
...BUT..... they aren't as comfortable as my Birkenstock clogs ,they have a similiar look(shiny black leather) but for long term all day comfort I wear Birkenstock,Croc,or Teva mush (I did say my shoes were rather...not fancy:rotfl:)
I think I'm a minority tho,my friends seem to LOVE Dansko.....

Does anybody know about the men's line of Dansko shoes? My DH is on his feet all day, but refuses to look at them.

another nurse who loves Danskos! 12 hours on my feet in our ED can be heck on crappy shoes.

I bought mine on ebay after trying them on at the store. The only thing I dislike is the extra height it gives me. I'm tall to begin with (5'11) and these make me really feel tall and i've bonked my head on overhead lights and iv poles occasionally :lmao:

I love danskos. I'm a nurse too but work in an office most days but wear them a lot. I wear them shopping, to disney, etc! I find crocs comfy but not stylish and they dont have enough support for for a whole day of walking. I might wear them one day at disney in the summer but i know my feet will hurt by the end of the day.

I work in a Medical Office and I live in Dansko's!!! They are so comfy and they support my feet while at work. I also have several pair that I wear outside of work as well. My sister who is a travel nurse lives in them too. We both have paid full price for them but thankfully there is a local store by us that carries them and when they have a good sale on shoes the last season Dansko's are normally there too for a cheap price!! I brought a pair to Disney when I came back in May and loved them...too bad it was too hot to wear during the day. LOL

Another Nurse here who loves Danskos.I will tell you though that depending in the style you get, they may take some time to get used to.But I love them and alternate between them and athletic shoes

Heh - I live about 10 minutes from the Dansko outlet, and I've never been there! I keep planning on it, then I get distracted...

I started wearing Danskos when I was teaching...what a difference! I LOVE them! I still wear them even though I am not teaching anymore. I even splurged on stylish Dansko boots this season.

You will not regret them. The only downside is that you won't want to wear anything else.
