Okay, here is my problem. I have a wedding to go to next month. I'm wearing what would probably be considered a cocktail dress. I normally would wear peep-toe pumps or strappy high-heeled sandals with this dress with no panty hose, but being that it's November, it seems like I should be wearing panty hose, which I guess wouldn't look right with either of these shoes. Or am I wrong? The alternative would be to wear hose with a black pair of closed-toe pumps, but they don't seem to look quite as nice. What would you do?

Oh here we go again.
Here in NJ it would be
NO HOSE with peep toe shoe.

You need to suffer for fashion sometimes a little cold won't kill you.:rotfl2:

The wedding is indoors right? Wear the peep toe, no hose. Have whoever is driving drop you off at the door.

I wasn't really concerned about my feet being cold. I just didn't know if it was appropriate to go without hose in the winter.

Sorry to be the lone dissenter, but I would not go bare-legged in November. I would do the closed toe pumps with hose.

My closed-toe pumps look too business-like I think. What about some closed-toe slingbacks? Is it okay to wear them with hose? I assume it's okay to wear hose with anything except a shoe where your toes are exposed?

No pantyhose. NOWHERE. NEVER. Totally out of fashion, unless you're 85 or older. ;)

The only time nylon should be covering your legs is if you are wearing TIGHTS with BOOTS.

But definitely not with a cocktail dress. Pantyhose don't really give you any warmth anyway! Wear your dressy shoes and your pretty dress with bare legs and enjoy the wedding!

You know it's winter when the pantyhose debates start......

I would use this as an excuse to go shoe shopping :) find something cute that is close toed!

To tell you the truth, now that I'm over 40, my legs don't look like they used to, and maybe I shouldn't be going without hose at this point anyway. If you have beautiful, young legs, I definitely agree with the no hose theory. But at some point, I think hose is the way to go. Just haven't decided if I'm there yet.

Pantyhose are like makeup for ones legs. They "hide" flaws, smooth imperfections and give one a slimmer look!

I'll never give up wearing them, especially when attending a function honoring a special occasion!

I'd wear sheer toe pantyhose with "peep" toe heels and not think twice about it.
Painted toenails are a must!

I would wear pantyhose with a closed toe high heeled pump. In November, my legs are not in "bare leg" condition.

I have seen panty hose without the toes area...wouldn't that work???

I live in NYC and have close friends in the fashion industry and hose are definitely not passé, not sure where folks are getting their information. Textured stockings are HUGE this year as well as dark tights worn with open-toed shoes or boots. Watch any videos of the NYC or Milan fashion shows and that's what they are all showing. If you don't feel comfortable wearing textured or darker stockings for the wedding, Donna Karan has great toeless nude stockings that are a huge seller. Most major department stores like Bloomingdales or Saks has them or you can order them online: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2888970...rol_top_toeless_hosiery:2128&cm_ven=yahoo_ssp.

The biggest thing is wear what makes you feel best about yourself!

Thanks. I think I'm going to order those with the link you gave. And I have a Nordstrom gift card that I've been wanting to use, which will be perfect. It's a little hard to tell color though. Would the lightest color be the most sheer?

Usually the lightest is the most sheer, but it might not be a bad idea to buy 2 different shades and see which one looks best with your coloring and your dress. Have fun and go with confidence!

I've been hearing that hose are out for a while now, and since I rarely wear dresses anyway, I never really paid much attention, but I am always wondering how do you ladies wear shoes with no hose? My feet would be killing me, not to mention all sweaty if I didn't wear something on my feet! I'm all over flip flops or cute sandals all summer but I hate wearing nothing on my feet with regular shoes!
