Shockingly Good...

I was just reading the "Have you ever had a shock" thread, alternatively laughing and being amazed by some people. However, I got to thinking about all the truly shocking things that CM's and sometimes guests manage to do that really brightens my day, and was hoping others could share. I'll start:

1. My last visit in January, when my family and I were lined up at the boat dock after Fantasmic, we waited at least three boatloads before getting seated. Most people were a little cranky at the long wait, but that didn't stop the captain (I think his name was Skip, or Chip or something) from trying to brighten our moods. He made us all pretend we were a boatload of pirates, constantly interjecting "Arrrghhh's" and "Ahoys" into his litany of phrases. The night was capped off perfectly when he had the entire boat roll down the windows, and he cut the motors to drift alongside the walkway from MGM to Swan/Dolphin in order to do a "Drive-By Argghing" to a family making the walk back. It certainly brightened everyone's mood on the boat after the long wait for transportation.

2. In addition, we also stayed at OKW last trip. One day we got up and waited at the bus stop (I believe for Epcot) to get on the bus with only a few other families. The bus driver "Rrrrroberto (you have to trill the R)" decided to hold an impromptu game of Jeopardy, asking everyone on the bus trick questions. They were hilarious, mine was, "How would you say the airline TWA if it were a word?" My response, 'Twa.' He then proceeded to go through TWE, TWI, and TWO, finally getting my to say 'two,' instead of the number 2 (funnier if you heard it out loud). He really made the bus trip seem shorter and everyone was in a joyous mood by the time we made it to the parks.

Also, I was wondering how all of you seem to be able to put up the countdown meters in your threads. I'm not nearly so computer literate that I can figure it out on my own, and I'd love to get one up to advertise my Mid-June B-Day trip!!

The Tech board has specific instructions for countdown clocks. Easy as pie, once you read the instructions, so check out that board.

That boat ride must have been a blast! Whoever that CM was should be given a pat on the back for bringing back the magic.

Heres a link to the tech board. You can get info on timers there. Click Here

Too funny...if I was that family on the walkway I would have keeled over laughing!

It's the little things, like this, that truely makes WDW for everyone...not just little kids. I'm sure the "big kids" got quite a chuckle outta that!

kudos to that bus...err..boat driver! :)

Yes, you never know when a bit of pixie dust will come your way. Last October, myself, my DD29 & my DGD8 were at MGM when a CM dressed in a bright blue suit & fedora and driving a white old timey buggy/car thingy nearly ran over us...not really, I was in a silly mood and acted like he almost ran over us. He asked where we were headed and we told him that we were on our way to see Beauty & The Beast. He said, "Well come on, I'll drive you!" He drove us from the back of the park all the way to B&B and even up the sidewalk until we got to the podium. Then, the CM at the podium fixed us up with front row seats. It was totally unexpected and out of the blue fun!

OMG--the "Drive-By Argghing" story made me bust out laughing:p I am sure my co-workers think I am certifiable;)

We were driving to one of the parks one morning.... I was in a lane next to a MGM bus. The driver signalled me (he had a couple of 10ish kids right behind him) to open my window and yelled "hey, do you know how to get to MGM?" Those kids were just rolling.

Last summer we were at MK and my daughter who was 2 1/2 at the time wanted to ride Thunder Mountain! She sat with daddy and watched as me and my oldest daughter were riding it. My husband decides to take our youngest in line. He kind of figured she would be too small but wanted to see what the CM thought. Of course she was too small :( The CM then pulled out a certificate stating our daughter was too small to ride Thunder Mountain but as soon as she was tall enough to bring back the certificate and she, along with whoever is with her, could walk right on the ride without waiting. :Pinkbounc My husband and I were very thrilled to get such a thing. Of course we will keep it until she is big enough to ride...then again..part of me wants to keep the certificate forever since it's a neat thing to have.

Gotta love that Disney magic. :D

These stories are terrific! I'm still laughing about the "drive by AAARRGG" and the "lost" MGM bus!
I'm going to try and pick my brain and try to add something!

Thanks for the laugh!

Wow... this is a good one, and I have too many to choose from. on the "shocking" post I could only think of one!

One that pops into my mind is while we were eating at Chef Mickey's (on a family trip that my whole family does each year), We were there until around 9:30 and were just finishing up. My almost 3 yr old niece was so tired and kept falling asleep. The staff kept coming over and watching her, asking her parents if they could take a picture of her. Just as we were ready to leave our waitress came and asked if it would be ok if they gave my niece a little suprise, they said that it would be great and the waitress told them to meet here at the front of the restaurant. When we all arrived Mickey was standing there but my niece was still asleep. The waitress said "Perfect". We had told her that we were at the GF and so she asked if Mickey could escort her to the monorail. He carried her all the way to the monorail with his little crew of cm's. then when we were in the waiting area they woke her up, I thought she was going to scream but she just looked at him, got a huge smile then hugged him. he then put her down and danced with her around until the monorail arrived. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen, people we didn't know were snapping shots of it. It wasn't like she was the only child in the restaurant so it made it even more special.

I have so many I want to post but I am going to have to come back and do it later due to lack of time.

Phanomouse that is just an AWESOME story!!!!! That's what makes Disney Disney. Thanks for sharing!

We had a Disney Trivia bus driver all the way from CR to AK - long ride, but he made it seem really short - questions ranged from simple to hard and it was a lot of fun.

At the end he said something like, my name is (real name) if you liked the ride and (not real name) if you did not like the ride.........

The other fun part was that Mickey and Minnie were cicrcling the traffic area in front of AK and the exact moment and they stopped and waved to us all coming off the bus and made a big deal as if we were the only people there

Thanks

This is truely pixie dust magic. Do you have a pic to post?

I'd have to say 'Zoreida', the bus driver we had on one of our trips(2 yrs. ago) was the best. She had the whole bus going...she was singing "The wheels on the bus go...", you know the song. She even had gestures to go with it, hitting, the brakes, etc. She was a blast. She told us it was her first day (still wonder about that) and that if we liked her, her name was 'Zoreida' like Ore-Ida with a Z, if we didn't like her she said to be sure to tell them her name was Laura or something like that. I did see her there last year but she wasn't our bus driver.

Meanwhile, over at Epcot, there was the magic provided by the cavemen at Ice Station Cool. There are no words to describe these guys. *********** had picks of the one in a post entitled Ice Station Cool. It is so much fun to interact with these guys. Just ask Velvetgloves! =0)

The most exiciting thing that ever happened to us at the parks was last October. We were just coming out of Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast and it was about 9:05 so the park just opened. We are heading towards the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore comes out of a door. HE takes my 2 kids (DS:6 DD:3) by the hands and starts skipping towards the ride.

There is no line so he walks them right up and gets onto the ride with them. My wife and I quicky jumped into the back of the Honey Pot for one of the best experiences we've had at WDW. When the ride ends Pooh and Tigger were there waiting for Eeyore.

Truly Magical.

That's one of my favorite parts of the boat ride. They are SO much fun and SO nice! They're GREAT!

We truely had a "magical moment" on our last trip. My sis, bro-in-law, and my mom went for mothers day. I had gotten my sis a Nurses Day limited edition pin becuase I knew she would love it (plus she is the best labor and delivery nurse in the world:D )
Well we went on test track and you guessed it the pin was gone! We were all so sad and went on the ride again to see if we could find it. Well, at the end of the ride we went up to a CM-Drew who took our information and said he would do what he could (he was so nice and helpful!)
Later, when we were all looking at the cars at the end of the ride, Drew came up to my sister again and said to see him wehn we were done.
A few minutes later Drew came out and said "by the magic of Disney we present you with this!" and handed her a card to get a FREE nurses pin at the pin station!!!!!!
We couldn't believe it and even took a picture of Drew. IT's really the little things that make Disney so magical!!!!!!
