I don't think Amazon is the entity that should be attacked. This sounds like one for the legislators. If it contributes to a crime, maybe it should be illegal. I'm kind of confused as to whether their stance (the USJF) is that it's illegal and they're committing a crime by selling it. It sounds like that's still being determined. Surely they will pull it if it's judged to be child porn.

Perhaps Amazon has a strong stance against censorship. Perhaps they leave it up to the laws to decide what should be censored rather than casting their own opinions. I have no problem with that. Maybe someday I will want to buy a book that is contrary to popular opinion.

BTW, do Amazon and BnN sell porn? Not a rhetorical question -- I really don't know, but I'm assuming at least Amazon does if it sells this.

I looked it up on Amazon and read a few reviews.

Absolutely revolting. I do believe that is it a crime in every state to have sex with a child. Period. End of statement.

I did think that it was interesting the the section of "other books recommended by readers" were the Bible and another one against pedophilia.

I find that interesting, also...perhaps it's possible that a percentage of purchasers are ministers - NOT for the content, but for the shock value of holding the book up during a fire and brimstone sermon, and perhaps quoting some of the tamer parts of the book? I haven't read the reviews of the book at Amazon, but if the book is as described in the linked article, I wouldn't consider it appropriate for sale at Amazon - actually I wouldn't consider it appropriate for sale anywhere - but at Amazon it has the potential to fall into the hands of children!!!! I used to order from Borders.com, but since their online store merged with Amazon, their prices went way up. Now I order books from Barnes and Noble.com

People will always claim 1st amendment rights for garbage like this. It does not belong for sale. And yes, there are sickos everywhere, including here on the DIS. Kids are so often the victim of these sick people.

They don't have a right to be tracked but when I want to keep a gun legally I will be tracked and recorded - fill out paperwork & wait the appropriate amt of days to buy a handgun. I will have my picture taken and recorded to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon but these sickos will not???

Well I am sorry but I disagree with you guys. Amazon is not in the business of deciding what people should buy and they shouldn't have to.

If they cave in to the pressures for this (and I hope that they do not) then the next thing you know someone will be pressuring them to stop selling Harry Potter books.

I may not agree with the item that they are selling but I respect their right to sell it. I also respect your right to boycott them and write to Amazon expressing your displeasure.
