Shocked at Dis Member Behavior

Today while playing Pirates on a mule account, I ran into several Dis members who used foul language during the game. Let me just say I have lost much respect for those members who shall remain nameless.

The VMK programmers ought to just limit the Pirates lingo to:

gl
gg
I'll go/stay
etc.

That's terrible! I wish that everyone would just be a good sport about the Pirates Game... it seems like a lot of players are getting more and more competitive and less and less friendly! :confused3

so so sad... it is just a game, have fun and be nice, win or lose, ( i usually lose, but with a smile) I am just happy to play!

I am shy... so, I really don't care.

ARG! its just a game ppl come on now, be nice :)

Yes, one of the reasons why I do not play Pirates.
Especially when you are new to the Pirates game, and never play, and are trying to learn.
Come on people I'm not sinking my ship on your team on purpose, just to lose your game!
Afraid of Pirates, very afraid .... LOL

I have run into this also. I would not be surprised if it is the same group of players. As people have said it is a game and this is to be fun. I think some people have forgotten that. They are into the virtual greed of wanting and getting everything that they can get no matter how it is done or how it looks. I agree there should be a limit as to what is allowed to be said in Pirates. Things are really getting worse than when I first started.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I have seen some things in the game but not that bad. Sorry that happened. I don't care for playing pirates myself. And I would rather not deal with those that are immature about a game. I've seen those in the lobby as well running their mouths. Not sure if they were from here or not but no matter what its not cool. I do think it would be better to either not allow chat during the game or just the gl type ones. I know it doesn't help for outside the game once you are out of it but better then hearing it during the game.

what I do not understand is how people have time to type in anything, much less read it after GL or GG.....I am too busy playing. I do occasionaly see some really bad behavior when I get sunk early. Have reported it as soon as I hit the dock (but then that is another topic and thread ;) )

Aren't mules fun though you really get to see what others are all about when playing mules.popcorn:: :scared1:

I too was on a mule last night playing pirates and also had a very rude DISer. In fact I played 2 games in a row with them, and they were very rude in both games.

We should compare notes and not play with ANY of them again....

I just started playing Pirates for the first time last week for the double points. I'm not very good since I'm learning but I ran in to really nice players and really rude ones too. I'm very good about ignoring the rude ones.

I happened to play a game with VMK_MagicalLadee ane when her team lost a round her team mate was being rude and she told him to put a stop to it immediately and I thought that was so great of her. I also tried to join games with DIS members who kept booting me and I thought 'HOW RUDE!'.

At first I was upset but then I remembered, DIS members are just VMK players. There is no test or initiation process involved to get in - all you have to do is register. So PLEASE do not hold DIS members to a higher standard. There are good and bad ones here just like everywhere else

Well, when the DIS people booted you, they probably had a friendly flag game going... That's my guess.

Getting the Boot-

Alot of people are offended by being booted, when they should not be.

Reasons for the Boot:

1. Players are playing with a group of friends
a. pre set teams
b. playing friendly
2. Player(s) can not play with more than 2 on 2 or 3 on 3

3. Player was rude and the game starter does not wish to play with them anymore or just does not wish to play with that player

I am sure there are more ...not every boot should be taken personally.

Smiley,

You may want to identify yourself to people when you recognize DISers. Don't say "Hey Dis!" but something more subtle, like, "Hello, CL_DaraSue, I know you."

What Mal put there is absolutely correct. If we are playing friendly pirates, and have the teams set, it upsets the point scoring to add someone. However, people often have to come and go because of that funny thing called life, so keep at it. I'm sure you will find DIS players who now need another because someone had to take care of a crying baby or answer a phone or homework or some other bothering thing! LOL!

Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of VMK?

I don't play pirates as I'm no good at it, but you may see my character there often and that is because DH likes to play it and I like the credits it gets me. Although my DH would never be rude to anyone, he is in fact using my character, it could be the same for some other Dis-er who maybe doesn't have as nice a co-player as I do.

DH was quite upset about getting booted when he wanted to play a game, but once I explained that they might be trying to play friendly pirates, he understood and just moves on.

I have to agree though that it almost would be better not to be able to talk during pirates. It is annoying when someone who has been eliminated from the game gets impatient and whiny about how long the other players are taking to finish the round. Poor sportsmanship on their parts :sad2:

I'm going to apologize ahead of time for any of you DIS'ers that join a pirate game with me, especially on Thursdays. I boot a lot! Sorry! But usually I am either playing friendly flag with already established teams, or I am playing with a good friend who can only play two on two. I have no choice but to boot unless I am playing by myself which quite frankly very rarely happens. If I'm alone, I'd rather cruise with Ned than join a pirate game with strangers. :)

here is what is really bad to me in pirates (I don't like pirates because of the mean spirited competition it can engender). I often play level one because i am not very good. I also play with "guests" or obvious newbies. Then the other side sometimes has very very skilled players who kill off everyone right away and gloat. Even though it would hurt me, because I would have to play on level three, I think level one should be set aside for true newbies, so they have a place to practice and learn how to move and shoot without being demeaned. When I die, usually early, I never say ANYTHING, so that I dont disrupt the ones who are trying to play.

(Dismounts from soapbox).

I just dont get why the OP is shocked about Dis members, this type of behavior is not relegated to only non-Dis members, and these boards are proof of that
