shipping to Kenya / Nairobi - anyone with any experience

We are in the process of arranging air freight for approx 100 computers, 2 tv's a printer and some other small items to Kenya/Nairobi, to support a school there, the PC's have been donated by the school I work in as they were replaced by new ones and these have been given to us, and all other items have been donated and are to be gifted to the school - The air freight is being done at a highly reduced rate and paid for as a gift/charitable donation. Our concern is the paperwork that shoud accompany the items we will included a letter from the school saying that the pc's are donated, but the teacher we are dealing with at the school they are to be donated to has told us that even gifts are subject to customs imposing a levy on them, is there anyway around this as we do not want this school that is struggling to have to pay to recieve such items any advice would be gratefully recieved.
