Has anyone ever shipped a package to DVC rather than transport items on an aircraft?

Do you think shipping might be worthwhile with all the airport restrictions? :moped:

We shipped a box last time, and I plan to do it every time. It was so easy to do and when I checked in they had it noted that my box arrived. I put my name, reservation number, and check in and out date on all 4 sides and the top. I also wrote please hold on the box. When we went to check out, they shipped the box home for us!

My package is enroute right now. I'm just upset that it will get there before I do. I would recommend this to anyone. So much better than getting told to shift stuff from one bag to another to get my luggage under 50lbs.

I think I am going to try shipping myself next time. :teleport:

We shipped to both BWV and OKW without a problem. The package was waiting for us. We use UPS and plan for about 5 business days for the box to arrive at WDW.Bell Services delivered the box to our room after checkin.

We've been shipping boxes to the DVC WDW resorts for years and we've never had a problem. The front desk has always been very helpful with this - so has bell services for that matter.

We always use the resort address that is provided on the confirmation. You should also address the package to the person who is listed on the confirmation, along with the reservation number, the check-in date and a note to hold the package at the front desk for your arrival. On all but a few ocassions they've informed us that we have a package waiting before we can ask about it. The front desk can arrange to ship the package(s) back to your home if you like.

Be prepared to become spoiled by this. We do this often enough that we've had FedEx prepare shipping labels that are preprinted with the resort address. Using preprinted labels is a nice timesaver for us, not to mention we never get the address wrong.

Have a great vacation.

I've also shipped a box before every trip. The only time I had a slight problem was Christmas week at BWV. We arrived on New Years Day and no one at the desk knew anything about a box arriving for us. Fortunately, I had printed the delivery confirmation before we left home so I knew it had been delivered on Friday afternoon. I think what annoyed me was not the fact that no one knew anything about it, but, the fact that no one was even the slightest bit inclined to bother to track it down. The folks at the front desk said they didn't know where it was, but, it wasn't there........"You might want to try down at the Mailroom of the Conference Center when they open tomorrow".......Uh no........there were things in that box I need tonight (we had our grandson with us and I had things in there for him). Therefore, I did take a walk down to the Conference Center that evening......talked to a security person who called a supervisor of the mailroom and got someone in to get the package. This was after I showed the security person that I had a delivery confirmation from UPS so I knew it was SOMEWHERE at BW. I had not a bit of help from the front desk at BW. I've since chalked it up as probably the end of a very busy couple weeks of Christmas vacationers for CM's and they were just all burned out, but, at the time it wasn't a magical experience. Other than this one time it's always been noted when we check in that we have a package waiting.

I plan to do this our next trip--it's a great idea, especially considering the new carry-on restrictions.
So, do you pack packing tape with you for the return shipping? I like the pre-printed label idea, too!!!! :thumbsup2

We use online tracking as well, so we'll be prepared if something goes wrong some day. Yes, we bring packing tape and return labels so we can simply drop the boxes at the front desk. We've on ocassion even packed folded up boxes if we think we'll have more things coming back from the resort than we had going to the resort.
