We are at T-Minus 34 days and counting!

Every year, I typically ship a few items to our villa to keep down the weight/bulk of our suitcases (diapers, wipes & formula, mostly) and encountered no issues at WL or SSR. However, last year at BLT, even after I called to confirm, we were socked with nearly $35 in fees to collect our boxes (we had 2 sent from Amazon.com and my sister sent a small goody box to surprise our kids). We were told that all packages are dealt with by the convention center @ CR and that they are a separate entity from WDW and charge fees for packages. Just for clarification, I have packages sent Prime (2-day) shipping and coordinate them to arrive within a day of our arrival - it's not as though they sit for a week waiting for us.

However, today on the phone with a CM discussing a few other items of business, this came up. She insisted that there is NO fee for packages as long as a person's confirmation number is included on the "ATTN" line of the hotel's address (which I ALWAYS do) and that once CR personnel see that it's a resort guest, they'll hold the package behind the desk.

Can anyone verify this?

was the CM at Disney or at DVC?

think when blt first opened we were told about extra shipping costs because it going thru the convention center - which is not part of the hotel/dvc. If I remember correctly (and might not) - it goes to them immediately - so the front desk can't control it.

so I would think you would still pay.

since BWV has a convention center too - don't remember if they charged extra or not.

have you consider wegoshop?

found it on the dvc site

If you are expecting faxes, postal mail, or packages during your stay, please advise those sending these items to clearly mark the communication with your name and room number (if possible). Each Resort can accept packages for Guests staying or arriving at that Resort only. Charges will apply for packages mailed to Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

neither SSR or VWL is on the list - so that is why you were not charged there. look like AKV and OKW there is no charge either

A ha! That clears things up. We are not DVC but we are staying at BLT, so that must be the difference. It's funny that BLT packages go through the convention center but hotel pkgs do not, as the convention center is about as far from BLT as you can get!

I have no idea what wegoshop is - I'm going to Google it now. :)
Two years ago, we did the grocery delivery service (can't remember the name - the one WDW recommends) and I was not too thrilled. Several items were out-of-date (the cereal was expired by 3 months! the yogurt was a week past expiration date!) - not the end of the world, but it becomes an issue when paying massively inflated prices. :/
