I've shipped boxes to the resorts before, no problems.

I'm now thinking this time to ship a box home, has anyone done this?

I'm shipping three large boxes to our resort (one with baby supplies, one with beverages and one with Mickey giftbags for the kids).

I've heard all I have to do is request a prepaid label from UPS at the time I'm shipping the boxes to the resort. Just reverse the info on the label to my home address.

Has anyone done this before? Just want to make sure it's this easy.

Thanks,
Mare

I have shipped boxes home from my resort. Once I had shipped a smaller box in the box I shipped down and once I got a big box from the front desk. They even will provide packing tape. I didn't have to do a pre paid label. When we checked out and called bell services to bring our luggage to the lobby they loaded up our package as well. 2x's the bellman had packing tape with him. He brought our package to the concierge desk and they gave me a choice of shipping it via FEDEX or UPS. I chose UPS ground. They weighed it, told me the price, we paid and that was it. Easy! It has never cost more than $20.

Just wanted to note that our box we used to ship down is usually beaten up and not good to use to ship the stuff back. Also keep in mind you will have much less to ship back. We even throw in our souvenirs. Also, at DtD any purchases can be shipped to your home directly from the store.

I thought the prices the front desk quoted were higher than UPS. Last time I shipped something home (got the box from the front desk - since we had nothing) it cost me $60!

I just figured if I had the prepaid label I'd save some money. :goodvibes

I've shipped items home right from purchasing them in the stores too, again - before we had kids and when we had the money to blow :rotfl2:

If the front desk can provide everything that's great. I just hope the rate is the same UPS would charge me.

What shipping method did they use? They had charged me close to that price once too. Then I told the CM wait a minute! That is too much how are you shipping it through UPS. And then he told me 2 day air or something to that affect. I told him to do it over and make sure to use UPS ground service and then it was around $17!! So make sure you stress ground shipping and if the fee is too high you know something is wrong!

When you ship a box down to the resort from home I have a couple questions
1. about what size box are you using? and weight?
2. how much does it cost to ship the box?
3. how soon before your trip do you ship it?
thanks for the info!

When I first read your title, I thought it said "Skipping to and from the resort.":lmao:

1. A BIG shipping box. Last trip that one box weighted 35 pounds

2. It costs me about $18 UPS 5 day ground

3. I ship it exactly one week from our check in date and it always arrives sooner, usually within three days (I'm in NY so I guess NY to FL doesn't take long?). I call the resort to make sure they've received it. They make a note in your reservation.

Once you arrive, at check in they will tell you we have your box. You have to be in your room in order to receive it. Just call luggage dept and tell they to please deliver your package.

Make sure to use the resort street address NO PO BOX numbers. Do not ship it regular US mail. It will go to a central distribution center and you will not see it until your last few days of vacation :rotfl: . It has to be Fed Ex or UPS.

I print out on the computer in big bold letters:

Hold for Guest: so and so
Arriving on: 6/12/08

I put this on each side of the box.

The box could be piled in the luggage room and this way they can see it's mine from all sides. I also put "this end up" signs on all four sides. Just because I pack it so nice, I'd like it to stay that way :rotfl:

Make sure to have a plastic knife or key with you when you open it. I used so much packing tape, I had to kick the box open! :rotfl2:

We shipped a MASSIVE box last time, and it was GREAT!!! Now with the airline only allowing one suitcase per passenger, we will most certainly do it again.

We shipped abt 7 business days prior to arrival using UPS. It cost abt $30, but it was a huge box and quite heavy, so I thought it was well worth it. I called the frontdesk of our resort the day the box was due to arrive there just to give them a head's up. Our box was waiting in our room after we checked in.

You most likely will need a new box when shipping home. Our original one was pretty beaten up. The front desk got us a box without any trouble, and they arranged for the return ship.

Thanks for the info on the box. I am going to do this for two reasons next trip. 1 because that means less we lug through the airport with 2 kids and 2 strollers and carseat :confused3 and 2 due to the added cost for luggage. I guess the shipping companies are loving the new luggage costs:cool1: .
