I have a couple questions. I have read that Disney will let you ship packages to yourself ahead of time. We are staying at POFQ if it matters.

With the airline we are flying we are looking at 15 dollars for each persons first bag, and 25 for the second.

We are a group of 4, and considering we will be there for 8 days and need room for souviners, we will need 2 bags each person. you can see that quickly adds up.

I am thinking it will be more economical to pack our things in boxes and ship them to the resort. Can we do that? How soon ahead of arrival date should we do that? Also, can I order things like Capri Suns, water, ect from Amazon and have those shipped to our hotel?

help?

I have the same dilemma. To ship or not to ship...that is the question. And then do you all ship stuff back home from Disney or pack/buy a bag to check on the way home? The consumable stuff won't return, but clothes alone (not to mention mementos) would certainly require checked bag if we didn't ship.

That seems like a lot of luggage. We just spent 10 days in florida and checked 2 bags total for 4 people on the way down, and 3 bags total on the way back. Don't forget, that each person is also allowed a carry on. You can actually pack quite a bit into a good carryon suitcase with wheels.

I have been shipping boxes down for our last couple of trips. It works out great. I live in NJ so I go to my UPS Store about 7 days before trip. They box and ship for about the same price that you pay to check a bag. Last trip in December I shipped down two boxes, one with lots of clothes and another with our toiletries and swimsuits. With the UPS store you can track so you know exactly when it gets there. I kept one box intact in the room, and put in closet and used it to store the dirty clothes, then the day we were leaving, taped up the box, carried it down to the front desk and shipped our dirty clothes home. Plenty of room in our suitcases for our precious souvenirs. Check with where you will ship from for exact days you need to ship by, and take into account holidays, because they can add a day or two. Now this is with ground shipping, to ship like overnight or next day would be quite costly and you might as well just check a bag. Have fun !!!

We ship. I travel alone with my littles ones a lot so its easier for me not to have to worry about lots of luggage.. Just need to figure out how to ship the kids.... :lmao:

This is what I do. I ship down the bulky things like sunscreen toiletries, food, film etc. and then just have a suitcase for clothes, one per person. When we are coming home I keep all our souveniers and their receipts and then take them to the shop at our resort and have Disney ship them home for me. They get them home for me and everything is insured by them so that if something happens to one of them they will replace them. I don't have to risk something getting broken in our suitcases or stolen for that matter. I use UPS too, and the first time I went down I went to our local UPS store to see how much time they needed to get it there and then gave myself about 4 extra days so that if there was any kind of delay I was covered. Just put your resort on it along with your name and arrival date. Ask them about it when you get to check in and they'll get it to you. Ours was in our room before we were.
