Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the cheapest and easiest way to get something shipped back to the UK from Orlando? Me and mum both have free snowglobes to pick up, we had originally planned on bringing them back as our hand luggage but as they're full of liquid this is no longer an option. We don't really want to risk putting them in the hold as I doubt they'd make it back in one piece, plus I've heard they're huge so they'll use up a significant portion of our weight allowance.

Anyone got any ideas about getting them brought over? Timescale isn't an issue so we'd be happy enough to get them brought by ship instead of plane if that will be much cheaper. Would it be cheaper to send them together to one address or seperately to our houses?

Sorry can't advise on the shipping, but please be aware you could easily get nobled with UK import duty these days sending stuff through the post !

A friend of mine was charged quite a bit for some complementary Discovery Cove pictures they sent her after she had returned to the UK.

just a thought

PS Is it worth contacting Disney and explaining the problem - they MIGHT be able to help ?

Not sure about your other questions, but I have mailed parcels to the US and my friend sends me them and they can be roughly treated whether you send them airmail or surface (which can take about 8 weeks)

Not sure they would be any safer, at least if you wrap them well in your luggage they'd have more protection!

I know UPS do shipping but not sure on the price. It depends on weight and size. Usually pretty good service though. Likely to cost a bit though. You could always buy some packing materials and take them on the plane as checked luggage marked fragile and just hope nothing happens. As you said they will use up large amount of your allowance though and will still cost you. UPS is available from any post office so best thing to do is go in and ask. Have you found out whether the company you got them from can ship it? They might be the cheapest and safest bet

Which ever way you decide you will have to make sure that you put the value at under $50 or you will have to pay VAT +Import tax +handling charge so your free globes could end up costing you!
SD :thumbsup2
