Shipping food or buying at Publix?

We are using Murray Hill transportation to get to our hotel and they will be making a stop- likely at Publix. We will probably buy milk and water. I am trying to decide if I should purchase all of our food there or if I should buy it here at a Walmart or Sams and ship it. We aren't staying for too long, so I don't need much. But I wanted to buy snacks, crystal light, instant coffee with creamer, and some breakfast foods. I will also need diapers and formula for the baby. We have access to ship things really cheap so the shipping would be minimal.

What are the prices at Publix like? I live in Texas so we don't have that chain here-- is it upscale or just like a regular grocery store or like a Super Target?

I love love LOVE Publix!! When they have a Buy One Get One Free Sale you can actually purchase one of the items for half of the price (many stores do not allow this, they make you buy both items to get the deal).
I used to think Publix was a crazy expensive place, but if you're into couponing you'll learn that Publix is the BEST place to shop. Here's a link to a great Publix coupon site http://www.iheartpublix.com/
Usually this site will post the new ad 2 or 3 days before they are out in the public eye.
Just incase u see something about double coupons on this site, In Florida they do not double coupons. I'm not sure if the Orlando Publix allows buying one item at BOGO hopefully someone here can help.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

I live about 20 mins from Disney and have about 5 different Publix's within a 15 min drive. For all of the stores I've been to, when they offer the BOGO items, the first item rings up at full price and the second item rings up at a zero price so if you only buy one, you are paying full price for it. I buy all of my bakery, deli, meats and most of my fruits/vegetables from Publix only. I love Publix.

another publix fan. I grew up only shopping at publix. They have very high standards for their stores, so i doubt you'd be dissappionted in them. Bring your coupons and use that site to find out the best deals. They do BOGOs on items from every area. Usually one week will be chips, the next crackers and other snack items. Pies one week, ice cream the next. You get what i'm saying???

their produce is also the best looking. I get turned off by the appearnce of fresh produce in other stores. And they run good sales on fresh in season produce.

milk is definatly cheaper out in texas. My aunt lives there, but i don't think the 50cents to a dollar difference is going to make a big deal. The last time i checked, it was 3.09 a gallon.

There's no way in the world it would be cheaper to ship anything to Disney than it would cost to just purchase it once in the area - especially since the stop is free.

In GA, BOGO at Publix you can just get one at half price. In Florida, apparently their truth in advertising laws requires that Publix mean BOGO. So you have to buy two to see any savings.

Publix is more upscale and expensive for fruit, meats, deli stuff than other chains but the quality is much better.

I don't know how much the savings would be but diapers and formula will be the most expensive at publix compared to sams or walmart if that helps you any.

Just shop at Publix. I do every week. At Publix dot com you can see the flier to figure the good buys. All the prices are just fine and competitive with the other stores in the area. The flier comes out on Wednesdays and the prices start the next day, or Thursday through Wednesday.

Enjoy!

We usually bring along things that I have purchased at a bargain at home, either on sale or with good coupons. I don't take many grocery coupons on vacation and I never seem to be lucky enough to find the things I need on sale once I get there. I also lean more toward light weight things like noodles, Pop Tarts, crackers, and Goldfish for transport.

I also watched the Walgreens and CVS ads before I left home and picked up some things there when we got to Orlando. I had register rewards and bonus bucks I needed to use. The milk and eggs at Walgreens were cheaper than at the grocery store.

I LOVE PUBLIX!!! Another great site for Publix deals is southernsavers dot com . She puts the list up Tuesday night (the new ad starts on Wednesday in Florida & most other places) and lists all of the coupon match ups and Publix policies. In Florida they do not double coupons and you do have to buy 2 to get the "BOGO" price, but they do accept competitor coupons and the quality and service are amazing.
