Can you put sealed alcohol in your checked bags when you fly?

Make that 2 for YES. We have brought alcohol home from trips-Rum from Jamaica, Tequila from Mexico, Schnapps from Germany-never a problem.

Yes you can, we brought back 8 bottles from St. Thomas. Unfortunately 1 got broken in transport (even though well packed), and the TSA did break our locks and manually inspect our bags (I can only imagine all those bottles looking slightly suspicious on an Xray machine). For the prices we paid though it wasn't a huge loss.

Well as you now know from previous posters...yes you can. But if you do bring alcohol, make sure that you have TSA approved locks on your luggage so they don't get cut off.

I read the title of this and thought it said "Skipping Alcohol". I thought, "Now there is something that I DON'T approve of." But then I clicked on it and realized that you wanted to ship it, not skip it. Good for you.

Yes you can, but technically a little illegal.
You have to buy a tax stamp for each state you travel through or around...that is why when going to Mexico and come back to TX you have to buy a tax stamp. You are supposed to do that for each state you travel to from there as well....but it is something that is rarely ever enforced.
TX gets it because they know what you are doing, but after that you are on the honor system.

United expressly forbids it unless packed in a very particular container. They have even refused to transport checked bags with the alcohol packed incorrectly

I have also been the owner of luggage soaked through and all my clothes soaked with someone else's alcohol, so I fully support United's policy

I haven't brought back Kahlua(?) from Mexico (very cheap). I suggest putting in plastic bag. I've had the seal break and ruin a top that was back with it!

Make sure you wrap it good. My raspberry vodka was in a plastic bottle and stuck in a Ziploc bag and still leaked all over my clothes and suitcase.
