I have a question for all of you brides. One of my bridesmaids lives in NC and my wedding is in NH. She was wondering if she should ship her dress up or carry it with her on the plane. If she ships it how would she go about it? Can she carry on a garment bag?

When I was in my friends wedding I shipped my dress to GA from NY in a regular box packaged carefully. It only cost $10 from NY. I prob could have used a smaller box and had it cost even less. I also insured it just incase. If it's small she can prob carry it on the plane without a problem. I chose not to just because I thought it would be annoying to carry it from place to place.

For another friends wedding she carried her WEDDING dress on the plane...it was so big they made her check it and then CHARGED her for it as an extra bag. She did have a really large dress, so I don't know what she was thinking :confused3

Carry it with you on the plane - in your carryon - don't check it. If you will have time to get it steamed all the better, then just fold it neatly in your carryon.

If you *have* to ship it - ship it Fedex as far in advance as possible - to someone local if possible - that way if something goes wrong you have time to fix it.

Your wedding dress/bridesmaid dress are really important parts of your big day.. don't chance it, if you can avoid it.
