Hi all, Its me again I need some info or input. Since I just completed my first trades and sales.
I packed them in nice bubble envelopes, and insured them. I was wanting to get imput on this.
I didnt charge over the shipping,I paid for the insurance myself. I dont know who would be responsible if something happened in shipping? sender or receiver? I would feel terrible if something happened to the pin I mailed out. any help! Fanocindys.

I use insurance if my trading partner requests it, or the pin(s) involved would be difficult to replace. Since we're both using insurance, that's an even deal.

If it's a trade, I pay for postage because my trading partner would be doing the same. Again, an even deal.

If someone buys a pin(s) from me, I usually charge them the cost of postage and insurance (if they want insurance). I estimate the postage costs based on experience and/or the postage calculator at usps.com. (I have a little kitchen scale that has turned out to be remarkably accurate!)

It is usually the burden of the sender to replace a missing pin. The sender has to file a claim with USPS; the receiver cannot do that. I would never wait for USPS to produce the missing pin. In the one instance where the pin truly appeared to be lost, I made arrangements to acquire and send a duplicate pin to the receiver. (And, boy, is this a story on its own! )

Again, these are just my operating procedures. :D

Thats my point exactly, Even if the pins are not expensive or LE it could be a
problem replacing them, and if I the sender has to replace them, the costs of replacing
said pin could really get expensive, I'de rather pay for insurance out of my pocket
rather then have to drive an hr and a half shell out the cash again and then cover
the shipping again especailly for a four dollar pin, If I can replace it that easily.
Or have to send my pin back, postage. I mean I added it up $ 4.00-$ 8.00 a pin or more
plus ship, gas, envelopes. it does get very expensive. And my luck.

I always buy the insurance for the pins I send even if they are more common pins. BUt my husband and I were talking the other day about this. Say I send pins to someone and buy insurance for them in exchange for pins from them. I get the pins on my end but they don't get theirs. I file for the insurance and get the cash. Is it proper pin etiquette to return the pins I received to the other trader and just keep my cash or do I send the cash to the person I traded with to cover the cost of the pins I received. (see how complicated it can get). Luckily I have never had this happen. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Well I think that would be something that could be resolved after the fact,
At least one person is'nt left high and dry, no pin, no money to replace it.
I would have no problem either returning their pin and using the money to try and replace pin
or sending them the money what ever made them happy, we would both be in good shape.
hopefully none of us will have to find out the hard way. Fanocindys.
