Shiny vs. not shiny

I have never made t-shirts before but am thinking of doing so for our trip in 2 weeks. I was just looking for some tips. My real question is, how come some of the shirts look really shiny and some much duller? Is it in the materials that are used? The way that the shirt is made? Or is it just the way that the flash hits the shirts in the picture? I want shiny shirts....please help with advice. Thanks

If I am not mistaken you can buy matte transfers? I could be crazy though!LOL

As I recall from the Tips page, the light transfers tend to come out more shiny, whereas the dark transfers have a more matte finish.

This is correct - the light transfers are shiny and the dark transfers have a matte finish.

For light transfers, be sure to read your directions carefully - because most/all require that you flip or rotate the design. And remember, using light transfers on any color shirt (except white) will result in all white areas of the design being the shirt color. So Mickey's hands would be yellow on a yellow shirt.

My dark transfers have a tip: if you peel the parchment sheet off when it is hot the transfer will be matte but if you peel the transfer off when it is cold the transfer will be glossy!

I don't know if that is the case with all the dark transfers or just with the type that I purchased.

I got mine at Michael's. They are the Wilton easy image 5 T-Shirt Transfers.
