Shiny Happy People's Dining Report - updated Tutto Italia!

Reviews are great!

I love when you get that little bit of "me" time, I love going as a family but for just a few hours in the WS alone is my idea of heaven! (oh and I also stop in France for a snack):thumbsup2

Was the blackened catfish spicy at the coral reef? Im sure it was a little, but was the whole dinner overly spicy? It looks really good. We have a ressie there as well and Im still trying to decide if I want the steak or the catfish dish.

I did not find it particularly spicy, but I am from Texas and enjoy Tex Mex with jalepenos. So my taste buds my not be as sensitve as some. I thought the tomato marmalade was a bit rich and overpowering - maybe even a bit "over spiced" as opposed to spicy. When I go back, I will have that again, but ask for the tomato marmalade to be "on the side". I hope that helps!

Yes, I am an absolute World Showcase fan. I LOVE it! That is why I think that from now on we will have to stay within walking distance of it. And though we spent much time there, there are still MORE things that I did not have time to experience that I really wanted to. "Me time" in the World Showcase is a definite must if you can do it!:cloud9:

There has been some bad press on the boards about Chef Mickey's lately, so I must say I was a bit nervous about our ressies there. Well, it turned out to be one of my favorite dining experiences of the trip! It was a fatastic breakfast buffet!!

Of course not much can be better than a breakfast date with the Fab 5! We were seated near a window that looked out upon Bay Lake. There was a para-sailor on the lake and that was a neat thing to watch.

I thought the selection of food was wonderful, and all of it was so tasty! I even had the Goofy's Vegetable Lasagna which was fantastic! The area for the food buffet is much bigger than the Crystal Palace so they had a much larger selection and choice of food.

Below is a picture of my plate for the morning. I had breakfast pizza (absolutely awesome), eggs, the perfect WDW bacon, vegetable lasagna, apple/grapes walnut salad, tater tots and the ULTIMATE - breakfast deserts with a cheese blintz, a brownie and a rice krispy treat!

Pluto's girl's plate is shown here:

She went the way of pancakes, waffles, fruit, sausage, and a donut was her breakfast dessert.

Timone and Mr. Incredible had pretty much the same as we did, so I did not take a picture of their meals.

The character interaction was great and we never had to wait too long for one to come by. We enjoy all the Fab 5, but obviously Pluto's girl was ready for the man himself (not Mickey) - PLUTO!!

Here he is with the entire family:

I LOVE this picture of all of us! It might be our Christmas card this year!

All in all, we were very impressed with Chef Mickey's! We will certainly be back for a breakfast there on future trips!

Coming up - Tutto Italia review - VIVA Italy!:yay:

Great reviews so far. In particular, I am grateful for the Chef Mickeys review - we are having breakfast there in October and my DS is really looking forward to it. Do they still have ice cream available at breakfast?

Really enjoying your reviews and pics, especially since your reviews include school aged kids who enjoy their food! Your review of Coral Reef makes me think I need to change my ADR and cancel Garden Grill. HMMM...

We didn't see ice cream when we were there, but there was SO much to see and sample, we could have missed it.:confused3

Thanks!

We did love CR, but I would like to try GG myself. We ahve never been there.

After the BIG Chef Mickey's breakfast that morning, we monorailed back to EPCOT and did some things there then returned to our room for a good nap (we had been at EMH at MK the night before until midnight and then it took over an hour to get back to the hotel and into bed). ;)

When we got up, the sky was pretty cloudy and this was the first sign of rain we had seen since we got there. We had a ressie for 6:20 and we were determined to get there a bit early inspite of darkening skies. We made the walk to Epcot with wind picking up and a threatening sky, but it did not rain until after we got in Tutto Italia. And it didn't rain that much, but cooled things off and made it a NICE evening after the meal to cruise around the World Showcase!:thumbsup2

We got seated after about a 5 minute wait and we did arrive about 5 minutes early. The restaurant is pretty and it felt like you were in a high-end eatery. Here is a picture:

Another thing that I noticed was the attractive Italian waiters in Tutto Italia.:lovestruc Now, I must pause and tell you that Mr. Incredible and Timone (who is almost 13) have this thing for many of the female CM's in the Norway pavillion. Seriously. This started during our trip 2 years ago when Timone traded a pin with a very cute Norwegian CM. He was 10 and had never really "noticed" attractive girls. Well, he did on that day. And ever since he and Mr. Incredible have referred to "Norway" with a certain "gleam" in their eyes. So now, Pluto's girl and I can say, "You all may have Norway, but we have Tutto Italia!" I mean attractive men and great food - does it get any better?:cloud9:

O.k, now back to the report...

We started off with bread/oil for dipping and olives! I also ordered a Bellini (YUMMO!), the kids orderd smoothies and in the background, you can see Pluto's girl's fried mozzerella which was a kid's meal appetizer option.

Mr. Incredible had a veal dish and really liked it:

I had the Cannelloni al Forno. It was very good, but very rich! I wish it had more red sauce on it.

DSC00406.jpg

Pluto's girl had the kid's spaghetti and meatballs. As you can see it was a good sized portion.

Our carnivore, Timone, had a steak. He like it, but was into it so fast, I didn't get a picture.

Please know that I am true believer in what I call a "dessert stomach". This paradox occurs when you have eaten a huge meal - are stuffed! But you still have room for dessert, so it's like you have an extra stomach for the sweets!

We all had GREAT desserts:

Pluto's girl had the kid's mousse in an edible cup.

Timone and I had the Gianduja - Chocolate Torta! Wow, was it good!

DSC00412.jpg

Mr. Incredible had the Copetta Sotto Bosco. He thought it was awesome:

We really enjoyed Tutto Italia and would certainly go there again! The atmosphere was calming. Several people were there enjoying a birthday or anniversary.

Oh my goodness, I know exactly what you mean. My DS9 loves to go to Norway. He is going to be such a sucker for light skinned blonde girls. :lmao: I'll have to enjoy myself watching the man candy in Italy now. Great idea. :thumbsup2

Really enjoying your report...thanks!

Thanks everyone! I am so glad that I can help spread the word about the "man candy" (love that!) at Tutto Italia.

And TiffanyKC, I see from your ID that you are a U2 fan. Me too! I am going to see them on October 18th!:woohoo:
