Cast of Characters
Me = Tausha
DH = Chris aka Panda
DM = Julie (my mom)
DSF = Erick (my stepfather) aka Dude
Gentleman!! Start your engines
My husbands dream occupation would be NASCAR/FORMULA ONE driver. His 2 biggest sports heroes are Michael Schumacher and Michael Jordan in that order. He loves cars, driving fast, and the intricacies of racing. He tries to drive our cars as if they were high performance racing vehicles and they arent, believe me!!
So when he opened that birthday card and read the enclosed paperwork that informed him that in less than 48 hours he was going to get the chance to live his dream Well lets just say it was hard to describe the utter jubilation in his face. My mom was very proud of herself. She loves to give gifts and gets 10 times more joy seeing other peoples reaction to their gifts than she gets from receiving gifts. I love that about her.
With the excitement of the day, the sugar high from the cake and champagne, and the thoughts of driving really fast in circles dancing in his head, I think he had a hard time sleeping. Think little kids on Christmas Eve Oh wait I can hardly sleep the night before Christmas either. Well lets just say he was excited!!
The next morning we were off to MGM. We decided to take the bus for the first time this trip. We waited less than 5 minutes and the bus was fairly crowded, but not a bad way to travel. And since the bus lets you off near the entrance we did not have a repeat performance of the slowest tram driver in the world. Once at the gate we waited in line to have the bags checked. I understand the need for this, but boy is it annoying. Not so much the checking of the bags but the people waiting in the line. They try to push their way in with no regard for others in line. Brings out the worst in people.
So heading down Hollywood Boulevard Dh wants the picture with the Sorcerer Hat on his head. You know the one. Stand in the middle of the street and make it look like the giant hat at the end is actually sitting on your head. Sort of like the picture of people who look like they are actually holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
ME: With DH out of earshot. Dude, humor him. Hes 30. He might be getting senile in his old age.
Dude: No comment. He just kind of laughed at me. He tends to laugh at me a lot. Either I am hilariously funny or he thinks I might have a screw loose somewhere or maybe hes just humoring me. Hmmm
Anyway. Heres the picture.
With that out of the way we headed back toward the Muppets movie. Our Pal Mickey (OPM) was much, much more useful at MGM than he was yesterday at MK. He was spouting off attraction times and wait times. After Muppets we headed for the ever important bathroom stop- DH shopped. He went into the Muppet store and OPM gave up the best tidbit the entire time we had him. As you walk into the Muppet store, turn around and look up high. There are the original dressing room doors and balcony used in The Muppet Show on TV. Lots of props and stuff too. It was very cool and if you never looked up you would miss it.
On to Star Tours. OK this ride seriously needs an update. I have ridden this at DL, WDW and DL Paris. And its getting old and bumpy. The DL Paris version is in French so at least that was something to pay attention to.
Attention George Lucas you have billions of dollars; please help Disney update the ride that has your name on it.
Next we headed back toward the big hat and the characters were just heading to designated picture spots. Tigger is DHs favorite and we had been on the lookout for him all week. And there he was in all in orange splendor. So we waited in that line while DM and Dude waited for Dudes favorite Lilo and Stitch (something about Hawaii that Dude cant get enough of). We had Tigger sign a post card we were sending to Dudes niece Baylee. The pictures are too cute.
Dude was still only half way through the line so we joined him and waited. And thats when I saw them and with out even thinking I said it and didnt even realize it.
Me: Hey look its Chuck and Dave.
Dude: Who are Chuck and Dave?
Me: Oh my goodness, did I really just say Chuck and Dave?
Dude: Yes you did. Who are they?
I couldnt stop laughing. When I finally did stop I managed to get out the story of Em in delswifes epic calling Chip and Dale, Chuck and Dave. I told them that her family teased her relentlessly the rest of the week. I guess it must have stuck because without even realizing it, I called them Chuck and Dave. I am right there with you Em and now my family has joined you. Because the rest of the week they were never called Chip and Dale but are forever now known as Chuck and Dave. I guess you could call us Chuck and Dave converts!!
It was finally our turn with Lilo and Stitch. These pictures are cool too.
Now notice I am wearing a hat. My hair was in a ponytail through the hole in the hat. For some reason Lilo decided she wanted the scrunchee in my hair and proceeded to pull it out. I had no idea what she was doing. She finally got it and took some hair that was attached along with it. Once she had it she decided to play slingshot with it and actually got it to fly pretty far. It was quite the funny moment.
Next on to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. I really enjoyed this show. I like to see how certain stunts are performed. Indy was pretty cute if I do say so myself Next was a snack at the Backlot Express. Nothing to rave about here.
It was time to say good-bye to OPM. Guess not too many people actually return him since the CMs had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to do so. Sorry, he was just a little too annoying.
Now we were off to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Play It! I have never done this before since the one at Disney California Adventure opened since my last visit. As we walked through the doors the CM asked the four of us if we wanted to sit in the fastest finger chairs. Um heck yeah!! As we headed in I was awed by how much it looked like the real thing. I love game shows, and truth be told I tend to be pretty good at them. I really love Millionaire and tried many, many times to get to New York, but I was never so lucky.
So there I was in Seat 2 figuring out the best hand position to give me an edge. The show started and I love the lights and music. The host was very funny but I cant remember his name. Guess I was mesmerized by the lights. So it was time for the Fastest Finger Question.
Put these US States in order starting in the West: (Oh its geography I am pretty good at that)
A: Washington
B: Kentucky
C: Illinois
D: Rhode Island
I knew it instantly. Without even thinking my fingers were pushing the buttons. Then came the results. The build up is intense. And the seat numbers start to flash up on the board.
And there on the top of the list was Seat 2
