Have a great time and safe travels :). So happy your grandson is looking forward to spending time with you. That's the best. We went to visit our son at college this past wknd and my mom came down from Michigan to see us all...had a great time. When we were at his choral concert the director mentioned when the Christmas concerts were and my mom said she thought she would get a couple of friends to come down with her for it. My son was pretty excited about that :)

Again have a magical time :)

Sorry I didn't catch up last night my brother-in-law surprised us and was in Florida for a quick trip and we ended up having dinner with him. So finally going to try to catch up now I'm sitting in carline, let's see how far I can get ;) (didn't get too far, taking a lot longer, lol)

Candace - No I have never done the dessert party before. I just think it might be a nice way to wrap up the day and have a spot for us to sit and watch the fireworks and not deal with the rude people that always comes in front of us. Looks like you went through some withdrawal yesterday ;) Sorry DD is afraid of the slide at SAB, that does make things harder for you. Looks like you made a change :)

Padawans - I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your room at WL that's a bummer :( So glad you loved your cruise! We love cruising, but we've just decided to tak a year off. I know what you mean on the LV room we loved our LV room at YC, I don't know how we can go back to anything else ;)

Marie- welcome home! Awe, HUGS!!! Sorry you are (or were) feeling weepy :( OH NO on your partner quitting, YIKES!!! DH and I were talking about Poly and one of the reasons he is against it is because it is spread out. Sounds like your next trip definitely needs some planned downtime!!! I understand the missing the family trips feeling, my older DS has said no more family trips and it makes me really sad :(

Jen - We took the kids to see Hotel Transylvania this weekend too, I thought it was really cute and totally and Adam Sandler movie :) Feb can be iffy for your with flights as well, I've had many friends have their flights cancelled the past couple of years due to snow storms. It looked like people were getting PINS good in May, so that may indicate discounts on the horizon.

Ginny - I am so jealous of all the wonderful F&W events you went to! It truly all sounds soooo amazing! Glad you made the connecting flight, hope your luggage finally arrived ;)

i_heart - great grab on the airfare!!! I think the AoA suites look like fun. I'm just not ready to give up me deluxe splurge yet;) But I do think we will be trying AoA at some point. My friend's bday is 12/31 and they always go to Disney, she says it is soooo crazy busy and you have to stay in the park all day....I wouldn't brave a park either! CONGRATS on CR!!!!!

Basketlacey - so happy everyone loved BC!!! I really loved being in that area, not sure why I am not staying there anytime again soon ;) I love the terrorist comment, I have 2 very good friends in the Internet and people never believe me when I tell them how we met, DH even thought I was crazy ;)

Miss - yep, hoping 5 weeks is plenty of time to heal :) When is DD's birthday? My DD's is April 20 and I know Candace will be there at the same time. maybe we can make April a great RC DD bday celebration :)

Jeanette - DD has been wearing glasses for a few years now and it was definitely and still is an issue to get her to keep them on all the time. I think your pans for Nov are perfect!

KOOK - you are too funny about Sarah and her "thoughts" on FW ;) Ih and you'll be happy to know both my younger ones have DSI XL's, lol!

Linda - hope you got your packing done and you got that mani/pedi you need :) so nice your grandson is looking forward to time with you....my DS won't give my parents the time of day :(

Shelia - bummer about possibly canceling but I do understand. You have to do what is best for both of you.

MAGIC - ha ha, I had 3 different resies for Jan/Feb. it felt sooo good to finally pick one and cancel the others!!!

dtr_angel - welcome to outer crazy crew :) Well the rational side says change to save money...my emotional SAHM side says LIVE IT UP WHILE YOU CAN! I think the suites look so fun!

I think I did it!!!! I am finally caught up!!! If I missed anyone, sorry. HELLO to everyone and I hope it is a great day all around!!!

Ok, I need y'alls' expertise! :goodvibes

If you had to do a 4-day resort-only stay during a non-swimming month, which would you chose and why? WL or AKL.

(Both would be standard views, if that matters. Would probably not be going to a park, and if so, would probably only be one. Then I'd need to find something non-park related, like eat until we explode, to do for those few days!)

Melissa- Meant to reply earlier to this...got distracted !! We have done the dessert party twice on day of arrival. Arrival day we drive from Smithfield NC, get to wdw around 4 and are usually in the by 6pm. Your table is reserved according to when you made the reservation, you will see people start lining up about 30 minutes before the time you are told to be there. You can't see wishes from your table...you will need to stand along the wall. Pick out your spot early and keep an eye on it. There is also a photopass photog there, so you should get some good shots. Look for the wire...if the weather is right tink will fly over you!

Miss: I would try AK myself...looks like there is so much for kids to do and see there!:goodvibes are you keeping the January trip??

Melissa: DH just echoed what you just said...probably while you were typing it! We are going to stay the course for may trip....although the discounts look soooo super tempting now! It is just too risky with flights in the winter, and winter driving around that time.

I heart: If you were to try AOA, you could give me your review before our Nov 2013 trip!!;)

Shelia: :grouphug:

Hi to everyone else and sorry for missing some of you.. :flower3: Well, now I may have call and reserve RO for May to make myself feel better about not going sooner in February!:rotfl:

Thanks everyone for the advice!

That might be the time I would try AKL, it doesn't matter where you are in relation to the resort.

My vote would be AKL! For me I would hate to be so close to the MK and not be able to go, unless of course you do the one park. Then I'd pick WL.

Sorry about February :flower3: Get yourself a May trip booked and you will feel much better!

At the moment the plan does not include AOA, sorry! I think I love my CR/BC split. For now. :rotfl2:

Oh!!!! I thought we would be able to see wishes from our table :( how we're the people at the wall? I just hate people pushing and shoving my kids just so they have a better view . We are staying at CR that trip and I keep telling myself just to watch Wishes from the resort. Hmmmm, what to do?????

Yeah I may live in FL now and have to worry about hurricanes but growing up in New England made me very aware of winter weather ;)

Oh good point!!!!! MISS....I totally agree with this! We won't stay at AKL just because we don't spend enough time at AK but if parks aren't an issue it's a perfect time to try it!!!!

Yeah, I'm not big on pushy people either. We just kept an eye on the spot we were interested in and then moved to it as the time got closer. My boys are older now, but we kind of still do things the way we did when they were little. ( people probably don't like us ...just because someone has little kids doesn't mean I have to give you my better spot )

Someone tell me that I don't need to spend $880 on airfare right now!

The weekend where we have a long break from school turns out to be a competition weekend. So I thought about going the weekend before. If we take the grandmas it would be about $4000 (including airfare). But that's only 3 days in the parks. Ugh. I need a money tree too!

I'm no help there!!!! Despite my switching to WL to save money, I picked up my girls and they told me that they would be OK with AKL?!?!? :upsidedow

That was always off limits because there are no balloons allowed (DD5 thing). :p

Now I'm considering a savannah view room, which would cut into my savings by about $250....plus we'd lose the location...which might not be so bad because we haven't ever stayed anywhere with a "prime" location and it has never been an issue....but then I also think about CL there.....:scared:

But that doesn't really make sense because the location doesn't lend itself to us getting back regularly to utilize the lounge...we had a hard enough time with that at WL...

I should just stick with WL, OR AKL, OR WL, OR AKL, OR WL!!!!!! :crazy2::sad::faint:

And I can't help you with that one! We loved AKL last year. The atmosphere is amazing. The pool is great too. I am not sure you would make it back much for evening snacks unless you guys tend to call it a day early. The bus service was fine and we had no complaints but not sure how much you would go back to the resort and then back to a park. On the nights we went back early, we stayed out and swam, had dinner etc at the resort. But the CL breakfast would be nice. Not sure if breakfast alone is worth the upgrade; you'd have to price it out to see.

Oh and not to make the decision tougher lol. BUT, the slide at SAB is only closed in for a minute and then it opens up. I freaked a bit when I saw that it was enclosed because I don't like being in tubes. My kids assured me it opened up and it did. There is also a smaller slide that is completely open.

Why does Disney have to be so stinking awesome?!?!? :bitelip:
Seriously too many great choices....but...WL makes my girls the happiest so I'm going with it. Maybe after their 2nd 10 night WL stay w/in a 9 month period, they will come out of it wanting to try something new....but for now...home. :hyper:

Cant't argue with that! We have actually never been dissatisfied with where we stayed. Everyone will have a blast; that I am sure of!

This is true. Even at our least favorite resort (CBR) we had an amazing trip. I'm just sooooo excited not to be tied down to a ton of ADR's this trip since we aren't doing DDP. We are going to use TiW instead and are making reservations (in 10 days!!!) at

1. Le Cellier (one of our faves)
2. Tusker House breakfast
3. Hoop de Doo Review (we've never done this)
4. Be Our Guest

Plus, we will put the girls in the cubs Den one night so we can go to World Showcase and check out Tutto Gusto. :hyper:

Being tied down to CL is kind of counterproductive for us too.

Akl cl is cheaper than a savannah view, and you still get a savannah view. I would try something new. I don't think your done. Why not a split stay. WL/BW or WL/AKl. I wouldn't give up on the CL. The more you go the more time you will spend at the resort.

Sod it. We're going in January (still). Going to call tomorrow and change the AoA ressie to something a bit more preferable to us resort-downtime wise... fingers crossed what we want is still available. :upsidedow

Thanks for all of the advice offered earlier! :grouphug: Stay tuned for the reveal... :rotfl:

You ARE my Mama :rotfl: You have at least 10 more hours to packcrastinate ;)
I'll come back later to multi-quote, but I just had to post that the bolded brilliant gem had me LOLing in my current semi-conscious state:faint::lmao:

AKL CL is about $345 more than the regular savannah view...and so that means about $675 more than our current booking at WL. :upsidedow

I think the split stay idea is officially out the window. It's just not how DH wants to vacation, and since I am lucky to have him pretty happily go along with my vacation planning, I'm not rocking that boat. It's one thing that he has really put his foot down on.

I really liked CL, we all did. But we also didn't use it nearly enough. We were barely up in time for breakfast (we sleep late on vacation) and then since we get out later, we couldn't really make it back in time for the evening stuff.

I don't know, ponder, ponder, ponder....:coffee:

I found that last trip CL just wasn't cutting it for us for the the timing issue as well as other reasons. Plus CR and BC have our least favorite CLs so I don't think I'm going to get the itch to upgrade. I'm excited to try a trip without it just to see if we really do miss it.
