She's Your Daughter!!!! A Girls Trip -- Last Day & Departure Day -- Pages 76 & 77

And the wedding preparations/planning begins................................I am so glad that I have a few more years before I have to go through that again. It looks like ya'll found a great place for the reception so you can mark that off the list of things to do. :thumbsup2 It sounds like you all had a great weekend together. I wish that Lacey lived closer so we could do weekend things with them.

Sounds like you found a prefect place. Around here, almost all weddings are the buffet style. The ones that serve you at the table are extremely high dollar weddings here.
Buffets are good though. You can get what you want then...and I usually get a lot! :goodvibes

looks like a fun weekend!

the reception place looks good, they can do a lot with the space....that's a HUGE amount of people....I went to a friends wedding that had over 500, was a mad house....they also had a buffet and the food was only set up along one side of the table....took forever to get through the line!

Such great pictures from the weekend!! What a cute couple!!

I have to say... I don't envy you with the wedding planning. I think it about killed me last year. Course, our budget was tight... so we had to really be careful to pick things that still enabled dd to go to WDW for her disneymoon.

And... I love the new bag!!!

500+??????

:scared1:

I can't even imagine.

Heck, I'm on the 3rd time's a charm plan and if you added all of mine together it wouldn't be 500. (275, 175, 12)

:lmao:

Wow. Just Wow. I don't think I've ever been to one that large either here or in Chicago when I lived there, 250-300 is probably about it.

They'll have a down payment for a house in gifts but how can anyone afford a reception that large? My mind is reeling with the size. I have planned a ton of parties though and have seen many places that require you to bring in your own caterer, as well as others that don't. It can actually save quite a bit of $$ but also means a lot more logistics to coordinate. It is interesting, the difference in area's. I had only been to buffets prior to moving to Chicago. And in many cases they might have just been heavy appetizers or what we'd call "cake and nuts" only receptions. A full dinner (or lunch) was the exception, not the rule. It wasn't until Chicago that I went to my first sit down/served full dinner reception with multiple courses.

Glad you guys found something that seems to work for everyone and had such a nice weekend. Very cute bag!!!

Kathy - I have so much catching up to do on your TR but I wanted to comment on your weekend! How exciting to begin planning a wedding! Love the reception facility you found! It will be beautiful and amazing and what a beautiful couple. Again - the family love that is so apparent through just your pictures are heart warming and Alisha is a lucky girl to officially become a part of that family! Glad you had such a great weekend with them!

Now to go read chapters of your TR!!

Thanks, Amy. We are very excited. And thank you for the very warm words.

I wasn't as far behind as I thought I might be.

I can't believe how wet it was at your MK morning. You didn't look too cold, just wet, but didn't seem to slow you down! :goodvibes

We had trouble deciding what suited our tastes at Sunshine Seasons, as well and ate at the Electric Umbrella. Kids stuck to the chicken, Eddie and I the burgers and it was okay - but I'm not a fan of Disney quick service mac and cheese either - or my kids for that matter. Sorry it was nasty!!

Seems that your morning at AK went well! LOVE the seats you got for FOTLK!! And I love even more that Cayley got to lead the lion section! Great memory for her (and you all, too)!!

I'm curious as to where you eat lunch with ALL the girls! ;)

It came down for quite a bit that morning; it did warm up as the day went on.

We had a blast at the AK. Cayley was so cute as the lion

Great pix of the happy couple and you guys !!!! I am curious to know what they want to do at the reception that you tried to talk them out of !!

The amount of people that they are inviting.

Sounds like y'all had a very fun weekend! And that's great that y'all already found a place that'll work for the reception! :thumbsup2

All of the pictures are wonderful. I especially love the ones at the end with you & Markie. I hope Reid will still be close to me when he's Markie's age. Very sweet! :goodvibes

Amanda, thank you. I think the place for the reception is perfect.

My son can be very lovable when he wants to (or when he wants something).

Ms. Kat, what an exciting weekend!! Looks like y'all had a great time. :woohoo:

Wow! Your future DIL has a huge family!! That's going to be some wedding!!! :goodvibes

Thanks, Camille. Yes, Alisha has a VERY large family. :scared1:

Very cute!!:thumbsup2

Glad you got to spend time with Mark & Alisha and found a nice place for the reception.

Wow she must have a big family!! 300-400? people??:scared1:

Thanks you. That is how many they expect -- 300 to 400. They plan on inviting 500. I tried my best to talk them out of it.

400 people at a wedding. Holy Cow - that is a big wedding. Glad they found a venue that will work. Sounds lovely. Can't see you pics.

I think BWW's food is terrible. I HATE eating there. I think it is totally for teenagers and young adults. At least the drink was good. :goodvibes I guess that counts for something. :rotfl:

The surgeon I work with was actually AT the NCAA wrestling tournament this weekend. He used to wrestle and is totally into it.

Yeah for winning money! :cool1:

Hi, MaryEllen. I really was hoping to talk them down to 250 (that's how many we had), but they would hear nothing of it. The good news is I'm NOT paying for the wedding. But I have to admit it is cheap..$10.50 a person for the meal so it's not too bad.

That is so cool that the surgeon you work with was at the tourney. Those tickets are extremely hard to come by. I woudl love to go to the National Championships one day. I really miss watching our son wrestle.

I have to agree with you 500:scared1:Judy had a very small wedding we rented a large hall that would easily have seated 200 and we had less than 100 invited and prolly about 65 that were there !! We too had a caterer 2 meats and lots of sides , I think the cost was around $10 a head too !!She wanted a Hawaiin theme so I made a couple of Luau type fruit trays , it was really pretty , but a lot of work for me :scared1: I can't imagine doing it for 500 !!!:scared1:

Kathy,

I have to come out of lurkdom. One to say I am loving your TR and two, my DH and I own a home just south of Dubuque in Bellevue. We love Iowa and love Dubuque. We plan on retiring there within the next 5 years.

I wanted to make some suggestions next time your there visiting. Not sure if you booked a reception site yet but look at this one.

I recommend this photographer! She's great not only did she do my son's senior pictures but also a family photo shoot this past summer. What is nice her prices are reasonable and you can order everything on line.

For a fabulos meal go here next time. The best salad and garlic bread ever!

http://www.vinnyvanucchis.com/

If you want to stay at a great B&B look here. It may not look so nice from the outside but the owners are wonderful and the inside is breathtaking. There are the ones who inspired us to purchase a victorian home and rehab it.

Oh and here is information on Bellevue. It would be great to have a DIS meet if we are ever in town at the same time. Come down to the house we can go to a nice place for pizza! Or to the place mentioned above!

Wendy

Wendy, welcome, and thank you for joining. Thank you for all of the tidbits. Unfortunately, the reception site won't work with 400 expected at the wedding, but it is nice to have that site for future reference.

It would be great to have a DISmeet if we get to Bellevue. We try to get out to Dubuque every couple of months, and we also come in the winter (weather permitting) to watch our son coach his high school wrestling team.

He loves Dubuque. I coudln't figure out wh=y he wanted to stay there after graduation until we found out about Alisha, and he just likes the community, things are cheaper, etc.

Glad you had a good weekend. Love Markie's KC hat. ;)

Jill in CO

Thanks, Jill. That kid of mine has more hats and shots than any single person I know...and that includes women. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Lisa, I can say that I am VERY glad that I am not going to be involved in all of the planning. To me they just have way too many people on their list, but they won't back down so I'll just let them go their way. Once a year is up and Alisha starts shopping for a dress, I will drive up to Dubuque as she wants my input.

Sounds like you found a prefect place. Around here, almost all weddings are the buffet style. The ones that serve you at the table are extremely high dollar weddings here.

That is so weird...I had never heard of a "buffet style" reception before. We had family style, but everything was on the table.

looks like a fun weekend!

Thanks, Lisa...it was a fun weekend. I can't even begin to phantom that many people in one room. :scared1:

The good news is that I am NOT the mother of the bride, so my role will a lot more limited.

I love my new bag too...it's so cute.

Cute pictures of everyone!

Thanks, MaryEllen.

Cynthia, I cringe every time I think of the number of people. I can't even imagine trying to get on the dance floor or what the bar bill will be.

It will be interesting to see how it goes with a buffet.

Rosie, all I can say is these kids are NUTS. But it is their wedding and they should have it as they want.

Wow...count me in as yet another person who can't get over the 500 number! That's amazing. We had under 100 at ours and just did heavy apps. Consequently, everyone got a bit more drunk than they might have otherwise... :rotfl: But we had a great time and I got what I wanted; a great time with my friends and family and lots of memories of dancing and laughter. Really, whatever's going to make Alisha and Markie happy will be great, I'm sure. :goodvibes

It is interesting, though, the differences in areas of the country when it comes to weddings. Out here sit down dinners are pretty standard. Our wedding was considered "unusual." :lmao: If only I"d known about Disney weddings back then. :rotfl:

I wish they'd do a Disney wedding...then we could get the numbers way down. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Okay, I am not responding to anymore...I am working on a Trip update and I want to get it up tonight.

So when I left you so very long ago, we had just finished up seeing the Festival of the Lion King and had the best little lion leader ever. :goodvibes

We were ALL getting hungry, so we decided it was time to eat. The majority wanted Pizzafari. Now, as many of you know, living in Chicago all my life and having Chicago pizza, there is not any other pizza that has ever lived up to it (although Mark has had New york pizza and he says it is close). But in truth we absolutely HATE Disney pizza and to be honest Florida pizza as well. But I was a good girl and said that it was fine with me.

So off we headed to Pizzafari and ordered our food. We had the girls go sit down while the mom's got the food. Here are a few pictures of some the food we had:

I believe this was one of the kids:

This was mine with a ceasar salad on the side:

And my dessert....which was way too rich for my taste:

This was one of Heather's girls plates:

The girls talking while they were eating:

One of the walls in Pizzafari:

I have to admit the pizza was NOT as bad as I remember Disney pizza being. Either that or I was really hungry. ;)

Group shot before we headed to our next destination:

GirlsTrip2012111.jpg

We were headed off to the Dinoland area to do a few things. However, on the way, I spotted a place that we HAD to stop. It was one of the few times that I insisted on a stop for photos.

Continued in the next post

What a great story. You guys just seem so pleased with everything, and that's just great.

When you were talking about the Dells, I was like "woot woot, Wis Dells!" And the Del-Bar. Fancy! In the umpteen number of times that I've visited there, I have yet to eat there.

I have never tried Chigago Pizza but I know that nowhere else I had it including Disney comes close, actually Niagara Falls area is prolly better than NYC

So could any of you guess where I was making our group stop? If you guessed to see a bear, a donkey and a Tigger...then you are correct.

The three ladies with a picture taken by one of the girls:

And then we were meeting our first friend:

Pooh bear --

Eeyore --

And last, but certainly not least, TIGGER!!!

GirlsTrip2012117.jpg

And here are some of the Photopass pictures:

Of course, I had to get one with Eeyore for Mr. Mark since he let me go with the girls:

And I had to have my "special" time with Tigger too:

It was then off to Dinoland where the kids played in the Bone Graveyard (is that the right name?).

After the kids were done playing, Heather and I took Avery to Primevil Whirl and had a blast (although I have to say I was a little "shaky" when I got off):

While we were doing that, Mary got in line with the other three girls to go on Dinoland's version of Dumbo:

Up next, the ladies need an ADULT beverage and we aren't done with the Animal Kingdom yet.

Thank you; we are very pleased. Mark got a terrific girl (and she got a terrific guy).

Would you believe in all the years I have lived in Chicago (54+), I have NEVER been to the Wisconsin Dells? I've passed it, but never been there.

Mark said Del-Bar was the best steak he ever had.

I have never tried Chigago Pizza but I know that nowhere else I had it including Disney comes close, actually Niagara Falls area is prolly better than NYC

There will definitely be a Chicago pizza place on the list for you for when you visit Chicago.

I am typically with you when it comes to disney pizza. I was pleasantly surprised though with the pizza at Pop. Maybe I was just starving though.. What about Via Napoli? I hear good things there. Have you tried the pizza there?

I KNEW you would be stopping to see Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore!!! Such cute pictures. I think the ones of you with Tigger are priceless. You can see the kids in you when you are with him. :goodvibes

Boneyard was fun... dd and I went there for the first time on our December trip. Can you believe I didn't realize all the activities they had until December???:confused3

cant wait to read more. :goodvibes

A great trip to visit the kids.

A huge wedding with 500 invited. :scared1::scared1: Sounds like a huge affair.

Love the Minnie bag.

Can not resist Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore. Great shots and I am glad you braved Primevil Hurl. I don't mind it but not many can take the spinning.
