We are headed for the Sheraton Vistana Resort in 3 weeks-yeah!-thank you, SkyAuction! We've been on property before and are hoping the space and economy of the condo will make it a good change. Can anyone tell me what Vistana's "fully equipped kitchen" includes? I am thinking cookware, dishes, utensils? I have an email out to them and will share their response if/when it comes. Thanks!

Hello, You have everything just like it was your own house. All you need is the food. BTW the Super Walmart is just diwn the road ti stock up on groceries.

Hope this helps

Thank you! I'm looking forward to eating in at least most breakfasts, maybe more.

Would you recommend any section of the resort over another? I did the Diamond Lane check in and asked for a top floor room, away from traffic and streetlights. Anything else I should ask for? (Not sure how much requests matter, though.) Thanks for any suggestions!

I heard back from Vistana this morning-less than 24hrs, I am impressed! They said the same as you both did. Any thoughts about which area I should request? Or avoid? Thanks!

I can't remember if they had a nonstick pan for eggs and such. I brought my own and used that so I can't remember if there was one already there.

I would ask for Cascades, Lakes or Fountains. There are some other good sections, but from my research, these are the nicest and newest. We were in Lakes and were VERY HAPPY. We were right by the Fountains pool so we used that. We had a wonderful time there. My DH says he never wants to be on property again.(well, we'll see about that :D)

Have a great time.

The only thing we needed that they didn't have in our kitchen was scissors, I'm not sure if they were just missing from our kitchen or if the didn't come stocked ( I didn't check the list they gave  )

We stayed in the Lakes Section and loved it, loved it so much we are going there again next Oct.

I agree with the above.
I own in the Fountains and that section is divided into two sub-sections (I & II). The II phase has the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom (same as Lakes and Cascades), where as the I section has the whirlpool tub in the master bathroom. I prefer the II phase except for one caveat. There is a small section of the II phase that does not have a water view. These villas are #'s : 1631 thru 1672. The views off the balcony/patio here are of a small grassy hill and a fence (yuck). Other than these 30 units, the Fountains are very nice. One time I checked in and they wanted to put me in 1669 and I refused---I had noted "water view" specifically on my reservation. The staff member at the front desk tried to insist that this unit had a water view but I told him that I was 100% certain it did not. I had to wait a couple of hours, but they switched me to another Fountains villa and I was happy.
Definitely avoid the Courts, Falls, Spas & Palms. I have not stayed in the Springs but I've heard people have liked them.

I stayed in the springs - the reason we like them was something probably most people won't have a problem with - it was 6 feet to the door from our car.

Mother at 82 can't walk very long or far - and this place was great for her.

This is a very good reason to like this section, but just so you know, most sections are like this. I'd say 98% of the time we stayed at the Fountains we were able to park right outside our villa---a couple times we'd come back late from the parks and might have to grab a spot 3 or 4 spaces down. We traveled with my mil who was in her 60's and undergoing chemo (for about 2-3 years) so we know what you mean about the convenience. Since the Fountains don't have elevators, we'd request "ground" floor for medical reasons and we were always granted that request.

If you require an elevator because most of the buildings are 3 stories high, you'll need to request the Cascades or Lakes. If they can't grant you an elevator section and the request was based upon medical necessity, Vistana will place you in a ground villa.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts! I was beginning to worry that Vistana was too good to be true, but I trust your opinions. Mickey, here we come!

I'd just like to add that, even though the Cascades, Lakes and Fountains sections are superior (I am a relatively new owner in the Fountains), people shouldn't be overly disappointed if they end up in one of the other sections. We stayed in the Courts section the first time we stayed at the Vistana, and even though it wasn't nearly as nice as the other sections, it was still pretty nice.

Maybe they've updated them since I last stayed in an older section which was Nov '99. I'm also a Fountains owner but one year we added two extra days to our week and they put us in the Spas. I felt like we were in an early 80's time warp. Probably, had we not been so accustomed to the Fountains (particularily phase II), the Spas wouldn't have been a let-down for us.

Yes, they have blenders. As far as the question regarding frying pans, they do provide one but it is a cheaper non-stick pan than I am used to so I always bring mine from home. I have stayed in the Lake, Fountains and Springs. All were nice. While the Springs is older, it was still very nice. We actually requested it because my kids wanted to be near the Springs Activity center for the pingpong and pool tables. If anything is broken or missing don't hesitate to call Guest Services. They are quick to respond. We had a closet door broken in the 2nd bedroom and a shower door that didn't close right. We called in the morning, went to parks and when we returned everything was fixed.

We will be there Jan 29-Feb12 also thanks to skyauction. We love Vistana.
It is a great resort with lots of pools and activities for kids and adults. Other posters are right. Kitchen is fully equipped. We will also be at Vistana from Feb 27-Mar 13.

Never know we may run into each other.

We stayed in the Lakes and really loved it!! Can someone please explain what Diamond Check in is? I'm not familiar with that term? Thanks

Del

Diamond Lane Check-in is basically a way to pre-provide all of your information so that everything will be entered into the Vistana's system prior to your arrival. There is an on-line form that you need to fill out and submit at least 72 hours prior to your arrival.

Particularly if you are arriving on a Saturday afternoon, there can be lines. This won't make you avoid the lines entirely, but you do get to enter a separate queue and the check-in process itself is faster. If you know about it, it is a no-brainer to do - no downside at all and can save you a lot of time. Here's the link to where you can find the on-line form.

I got a quote from Sheraton directly of $120 a night for the 1st 4 nights, then $149 for 2 nights and $120 for the last 4 nights for a total of $1258.

IS THIS GOOD???
