On the resort map, I see Fountains to the right of the Lakes (shaded orange) and below the Lakes (shaded purple). Which one is the newer Fountains II?

I have Fri checkin before a holiday weekend so think requesting Cascades or Lakes is unrealistic. Would I just want to request recently renovated unit in either Spas or Fountains? Thanks.

Fountains II is shaded orange (to the right of the Lakes).
If I were you, I'd still request the Cascades/Lakes. Perhaps just request in the order you'd like (i.e.) 1)Cascades 2) Lakes 3) Fountains I or II.
As far as the renovated units go......this is always an ongoing process. Our maintenance dues that we pay every year ensure owners that our investments will be maintained and upgraded as needed. I have never been to Vistana where I didn't observe some sort of maintenance and refurb going on. The last time we stayed in a Fountains villa was 2003 and it had recently gotten new living room furniture/draperies/wallpaper border. There were other things such as the bed spreads that were new. Owners of each section have their own individual associations to whom they pay yearly dues. So the Fountains owners have their own association, as do the Cascades, Spas etc.

Thanks! So both sets of Fountains are better than the Spas? I'd started to hear some good things about the Spas, I thought.

I think I may have thought the Spas were "ok" when we stayed there (Nov '99) had I not been an owner of the Fountains and been accutomed to them. I feel, I much prefer the Fountains I or II over the Spas if given the choice. I just feel that the Spas felt so much more "dated" than the Fountains. I think people who stay at the Spas and have not ever stayed in the newer sections might not notice as much if that makes sense ? Now I stayed in the Spas in '99---who knows, maybe they updated them a little more since then ? I hope so.
