Sheraton Vistana - Courts refurb

I've read that Courts is the original (read: oldest) section of Sheraton Vistana and that it is the ugly cousin as far as Vistanafans go. I've also read that they are the largest and are next in line for refurbishment.
So, can anyone tell me when the refurb is scheduled to begin & end? Then in theory, wouldn't that make Courts the best units (big AND new)?

I don't know the answer to your question but I'd suggest that you go over to the Starwood Vacation Ownership forum at the Timeshare Users Group site (www.tug2.net) and ask there. TUGgers are an extremely helpful group of people and I suspect that someone at the Starwood forum will have the most recent refurbishment schedule.

Hi Mother of All Fans,

We are Courts owners, so can probably fill in the details. Yes Courts is the original section in Vistana (if was originally a tennis based club, thus the 12 tennis courts!)

I don't know if I would call the units poor or ugly cousins; in a sense I think that as the developers have gotten greedy, size of units have decreased, density of buildings has increased, and the experience has suffered somewhat. The Courts units are huge in comparison to the other units, especially the upper units (Townhomes). Towering 2 storey living room with full height windows, parking directly in front of your unit, and an extra loft area that really is a 3rd bedroom. I've often thought that Vistana should close in the loft in the remodel to truly make it a 3 bed, 2 bath unit. The lower units (Villas) aren't too bad either.

The owners have finished paying the special assessments (a couple of thousand per unit week), and renovations are ready to begin. The latest schedule has Courts renovations running from February 2011 to July 2011.

IMHO Courts are already some of the best units in the resort, but we do expect to be ecstatic when the renovations are done. My only complaint is that, due to delays and vacation plans, I won't get to actually see our renovated unit until 2013 or later! The original schedule would have had to reno's complete by our March 2011 trip

Thanks for this reply. Ecstatic is exactly how I feel about our trip (which isn't until April 2012 so renos ought to be all done.) I've stayed at Fountains in '08 (post reno) in a top floor unit and was quite happy - but the loft sounds even better! And it appears to be in a very quiet part of complex.
