I'm still looking for an inexpensive place to stay for a spur of the moment trip late Dec./early Jan. I will only be able to convince my DH if I can keep the cost down! Nikki Bird is DEFINATELY out!!! Yikes! Now I'm looking into the Sheraton Studio City (can get ent. rate or aaa of $69) or Sheraton World on Hotwire for @ $50. Does anybody know anything about these 2 properties? It's just DH and I - we want a CLEAN room and nicely landscaped grounds & pool - if we can get that at a good price - we'll be happy!!

Thanks!

I have stayed in both several times. The rooms at the Studio City are great and nicely themed, but I haven't used the pool and there really isn't much landscaping since it's a tall building surrounded by parking lot. The rooms at the Sheraton World in the tower are also very nice, and there is great landscaping and pools. I haven't stayed in the non-tower rooms, though.

Thanks Adrien for your reply! I've since ruled out the Sheraton World because I've read some negative comments about staying in the wing rooms. And I don't want to risk not getting a tower room which I've heard are nice. We're still seriously thinking about Sheraton Studio City. Were the rooms clean? What was the view like? I've got it narrowed down (I think!) to either Sheraton Studio or Wyndham Palace & Spa for our first 3 nights. Our last 2 are at the Royal Pacific since I was able to get ent. rate of $119 there.

Thanks again!

Can anyone else comment on Sheraton Studio?? It doesn't seem to be too popular on these boards.....maybe people aren't aware of it or prefer to stay closer to WDW?

I know you have ruled out the Sheraton World Resort...Good move...do not be tempted to stay there.... the non tower rooms are evil...stayed there in 2002...big disappointment...looked lovely and glossy in the brochure...truth is they are no more than a cheap motel room,

Just my 2c worth!

If you're trying to decide between the Studio City and the Wyndham Palace across the street from Downtown Disney, the Wyndham is a superior experience, in my opinion. It has nice grounds, and you can't beat the access to the Downtown Disney shops. The Studio City is a nice place to stay if you're looking for an inexpensive place with decent rooms and theming, but it doesn't have a resort atmosphere like the Wyndham.

tell me more about the "evil" rooms...we wanted this resort as you can walk to seaworld...and yes, pictures make it look beautiful...tell me honestly as I also have the Hilton Garden Inn booked and need to decide.
Thanks,
Pam

Hi,

The picture shows the Tower but in reality the tourists are put in the " Florida " style rooms...in reality motel rooms. Hotel classes itself as a 4 * ......maybe if you judge it on the reception......nothing else......we paid a lot of money for this place and were sooooo disappointed. I am not a whinger and have stayed in Days Inn etc as well as fabulous in Las Vegas. Nothing is so bad value for money as this place.

The bath had all rust around the tapes and that horrrible scaly feel to the bath. The hot water tap only worked in the sink if you ran the bath at the same time!

The pool tasted salty! Not lovely and fresh...Yuck.

I should have complained but I felt a little embarrassed as I had said to my DH to stay here and I did not want to spoil it for the kids. Also I had not been to this board before...now I would definitely complain...although I did refuse to pay the resort fee of $7.00 a day at the end of the holiday and gave the receptionist a list of complaints.

The room is worth about $30-35 a night no more...dark, dingy...I have vowed since that experience only to stay onsight from now on as the place ruined my trip. I went in 2002 and as you can see I am still smarting over it!!

Have not stayed in the other place you mention.....Oh look at the hotel reviews in trip advisor...I am not alone in my views on SWR!

Also its a long walk to Seaworld...looks close but in reality I would not want to walk after a day in the park.

Denise.
