Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Safari recently? How did you like it? How was the pool? I am considering a stay there before and after going on the Disney Cruise, and could stay for free with SPG points.

Thanks in advance for your help! :flower1:

I just got back from a three day stay at Sheraton Safari through Priceline. We had a newly renovated room; perfectly clean. The only complaints were the smell from the painting they were doing in other rooms on our floor (couldn't smell it in the room, but it was very strong in the hallways), and the lack of sound-proofing - we could hear everything from the hallways. The staff was very friendly and we had no complaints. It was too cool for the pool, but it looked clean and was big with plenty of chairs. The slide was smaller than I expected from photos I had seen.

candaceg- thanks for your reply! I thought that I read about renovations at the hotel.. do you have any idea how much of the hotel is complete? Did you request a renovated room or did you get one by chance?

I don't know how much is completed - it seemed like all the rooms on our hall were done with the exception of the suites they were working on. We did not request a renovated room; but I think that showing the Starwood Preferred card helped (we got a SPG room).

The only suggestion I have that was sort of referenced by candaceg is the soundproofing in the hallways. We had a room in the same building as the lobby..top floor....

AVOID THIS AREA LIKE THE PLAGUE! It has several conference rooms on this floor. They set these up and take them down in the middle of the night and it was extremely noisey while they were wheeling those dishes carts back and forth...rattle...rattle..clank...clank..

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate the help.
What area should I request? Is is sufficient to request a room away from the Lobby?
Sorry for all the questions.

I am not sure if there is a bad section. It is pretty compact with I think 4 separate buildings around the pool. The restuarant, bar and store are in the same building as the lobby. I actually liked being in that building because we had to go through the lobby to get to the room and they have a tank with baby alligators that my son loved to look at...just the top floor was bad.
