Just booked Sheraton Safari on SWA Vacations website for 124 a night during peak season (199/night on all the other sites). So if anyone is going in April check out SWA vacations site!!!

Thanks for the head's up. I really enjoyed this hotel. It is probably one of my favorite off-site resorts. I hope you enjoy your stay!!!

We might add a night before or after our BCV trip, and stay at the Safari. I am a member of Starwood Preferred Guest and have tons of points to use! :thumbsup2

With hotwire, there are only three hotels showing up and only one is 3*. It is for 121.00 a night, so if this was Safari, which I don't know for sure (not much of a risk taker), then I would only get a 3 dollar discount. Not worth it for me since I know for sure I am getting the Safari with SWA Vacations.

For the $3 I wouldn't bother either. When we stayed here in March 2004 we won it on Priceline. We got it for $37/$38 a night I can't remember which it was now. I know that was a really great rate. However, I liked it so much I'd be willing to pay right about the $100/per night to stay there.

I just got the Safari for $58 through Priceline for 3/5-3/9 if this helps anyone.

Ok, so how do I do this???? I have looked at betterbidding.com and I understand how to do hotwire, but how do I do priceline and be mostly assured that I will get Safari??

Sign up if you're not to become a starwood member. If you do you'll be eligible for early or late checkouts, possible upgrades, etc. We also really enjoyed that hotel when we stayed there 2 years back.

With priceline, you can't be assured to get the Safari.

With hotwire, you can almost be certain what hotel you are getting by the amenities listed. According to betterbidding.com, Sheraton Safari is in the Lake Buena Vista-Downtown Disney area and is a 3* and has the following amenitites: Restaurant, Pool, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. EVERYTHING has to match exactly for you to be (fairly) sure it is the Sheraton Safari. Be sure you ONLY have the Lake buena vista - downtown disney area checked off. None of the others.

There is no assurance w/ priceline. You have to be willing to take any of the hotels in that zone/star category.

If you have your heart set on a specific hotel then do not attempt Priceline. I have only used it for last minute trips when we are flexible and don't mind being surprised. In the past we have gotten The Hilton at DTD (resorts) and just recently, The Sheraton Safari (3 star). We have also used Priceline in other cities with good results.
Good Luck..

I really don't care where we stay for the first two nights (the first night we don't even arrive till 11pm). So I tried priceline last night after reading the two websites everyone has suggested.

Of course I didn't get accepted on the first bid, but this concept of free rebiding is soooo confusing!! :confused3

I get the concept of finding zones with a 2* or lower only zone to add with your other zone and still bid on only a 3* but when I follow the directions in the FAQ at betterbiddingtravel.com when I get to the next page it doesn't give me the number of *'s for the zones (then the FAQ tells you to hit the back button). Anyone else done this before and could give me some guidince??

I am afraid to post this quesiton on their site becuase they tend to get a little upset and tell you to read the FAQ (which I did, just dont have a physic's degree to understand it) :rotfl2:

What you need to do is go and check the free rebid zones before you actually bid. In other words, check the first zone that comes up and let it go to the next page where it tells you the star numbers in that zone..write down if it has under 3* and then go back and unclick that one and click the next one going all the way down the list until you know exactly which ones have the under 3* ones

Hope you understand!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

I feel like a idiot!!! I do understand now :thumbsup2

I know this is sort of an old thread, but I have been reading over it lately, trying to get a better deal.

With hotwire, you can almost be certain what hotel you are getting by the amenities listed. I did this search and I am sure that I only checked of LBV-DTD area. There are some condos, a 2.5* hotel, a 3.5* hotel and one 3* hotel.

Here are the amenities:

Complimentary Breakfast
Rates include continental or full breakfast.

Pool(s)
Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal.

Fitness Center
Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.

Golf Nearby
Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one golf course; an extra charge typically applies.

Business Center
Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.

Laundry Facilities
Guests have access to a coin-operated washer and dryer.

It's coming in at $85/night, reg price $110.

I am doubting that this is the Sheraton Safari, because I am pretty sure that SS doesn't offer a continental breakfast.

Any advice or comments?

oh wait... I am thinking that the Safari may be the 3.5 star hotel via hotwire. On Expedia, it's listed as a 3.5.

ETA: nope.

Again I have to mention to get an American XP Starwood card, you can apply and sometimes you get enough points off the bat for a free night, its well worth it, and also when you go you can be eligible for late checkout, upgraded rooms, etc.. Plus you use your card and you get points towards another stay. Have fun. :thumbsup2
