Starwood Hotels offers members guaranteed lowest rates. There website says, "If you do find a lower published rate within 24 hours of booking your room, simply submit a Best Rate Guarantee Claim to us and we'll honor the lower rate. We'll also give you an additional 10% discount." Has anyone ever taken advantage of this guarantee? I would like to book the Sheraton Safari for three nights before checking into the Dolphin on our trip coming up on May 2. The official Starwood website lists the Sheraton Safari rates for those dates as $99. I've seen it on discounted travel websites for as low as $79. Just wondering if I should book thru the official...and then hope I can find a better rate within 24 hours. Opinions?

I'm not a Starwood member, but about a month ago I booked the Sheraton Safari thru Dreams Unlimited from a link on this site for the first week in January and got it for $65 a night. The same dates on Expedia were $99 a night, so I thought I was getting a steal. I'm not sure if that rate is still available, but what a deal you'd get if it is. Have you ever stayed there before? Is it nice? This will be our first time. Good luck!

Hi

We loved the Sheraton Safari when we recently stayed there from Oct 4 - 9th. We got a rate of $49 / night by calling the hotel directly and using the code JUNGLE. I am not sure if this deal is still on - but it was a great rate.

The hotel is very clean with very comfortable rooms - small balconys overlooking the pool. We would definitly stay there again.

Check with the hotel directly - I often find the best deals are directly with the hotels and often the rate on their website can be beat but I have never taken Starwood up on their guarantee offer.

Good Luck.

Anyone else use the JUNGLE code? Just wondering if we need a special membership to use it?

Can't hurt to call and just see what they say!

According to Starwood reservations, the Jungle code is not available. :( I really want to stay here, so I'll keep looking for the best rate. I know several have gotten this on Priceline, but does it ever come up on Hotwire?

I haven't done it with hotel, but I did recently use the Choice Hotel site's "low rate guarantee." I had found a rate for Comfort Suites Maingate East on hotelmartusa for $53.50, choicehotel site was at $80. I booked the $80 room and submitted the low rate guarantee form on the choicehotel site (I had to give the site name with the lower rate) and within a couple of hours I got an e-mail advising that they had reduced my rate to $47.

Yes, I took advantage of the Starwood best price guarantee at Vistana Villages a few years ago. You have to fax a screen shot of the lower rate within 24 hours of your booking. It was no problem whatsoever.

This is great! I may try this on our next reservations... Would love to hear from more people that use this strategy!

I did it and got the lower rate through Sheraton. I think our rate is about $67.50 per nite. I sent them a copy of a confirmed rate and by the time I got home from faxing the paperwork, they approved it. Sheraton's rate was $99 and the other site was $75.

Yesterday, I used Choice Hotels lowest rate guarantee. As previously posted, I used it booking Comfort Suites Maingate East. I have stayed there on the last trip and it is a great hotel in terms of rooms, cleanliness, continental brakfast and location.

I booked the room from Choice.com ($80/night - 2 queen studio suite) and immediately filed an on-line claim because the same room is available for our May dates through Hotelmartusa.com for $53.50. The response was quick and the rate was adjusted to $48.15 and confirmed by e-mail.

One caveat with this hotel, you can't book a king suite and get a rate adjustment because Hotelmartusa does not list king suite as an option. You could book a king suite at Comfort Suites Maingate (not east) because Hotelmartusa or Travelocity does offer king suite as an option for this property. The rate was $43.50.
I have also used the rate guarantee at Hilton properties without any problems.

I just got off the phone with Sheraton Safari reservations. I called the hotel directly and the lowest price they quoted was $109. I asked about the JUNGLE code, but she could not even beat the $99 internet rate!

I just checked hotelmartusa.com for the Sheraton Safari. If I got your dates correct: April 29th for 3 nights, they are quoting $76 per night tax Included.
Please check this website with your dates and other pertinent information. If this rate is correct, make your ressies at the Sheraton website and then file a lowest rate guarantee form.
Make sure you back out the 12% tax that is included in the $76 quote.

If you need further assistance, just post.

We stayed at Sheraton Safari in June '02 and paid under $60. a night Canadian. It was such a good deal.

The hotel is not that nice but it's close to the parks, across the street from Pizza Hut and Olive Garden, walking distance to a grocery store and drugstore, variety store and a bunch of florida t-shirt shops. The lobby was nice, the pool was nice and the room was standard. The only real problem I had was that we were in a side wing of the hotel overlooking the parking lot and the bell hop did not offer to take our bags. It felt more like a Hostel then a Hotel - we never used the elevator in our building since it wasn't very nice (service like)

We've tried to get a good rate again or at least a hotel in that exact area since it's so nice. It seems so expensive this time around. There is no way I'd pay $99. USD for this hotel. It's not worth it.

Ahh, success! I first booked the Sheraton Safari thru the Starwood website @ $99+tax. (Lowest phone rate is $109). Then I searched for the lowest price on the internet, and found a rate of $77 INCLUDING tax at hotelmartusa.com. I printed out the guarantee form from Starwoods site, and then faxed it along with a print out of the hotelmartusa.com page showing the confirmed price. They emailed back right away and confirmed the lower rate, plus and additional 10% discount!
Thank you fellow DISers for showing me this entire process on these boards!

Just got this place on priceline for 38.00 =tax total 48 bucks

had never tryed priceline so i thought i would for our last minute trip since dvc will not give us a room .... Because we have no points left...lol

will i like it .....

We stayed there a few years ago. Love the location and balcony. For around $50 or less it is a far better value thatn the All Star Resorts on-site.

thank u ... was kinda dreading this but u have made us feel ok ... it is only 1 night ,, and im sure it is ok...........

How did you find the hotel on hotelmartusa? I can't figure out how to search for a specific hotel on the site either. Am I crazy!? The only Sheraton I see is Visitana (don't want that)

We are trying to March 6-11 and the lowest rate we can find is $109. We don't want to do priceline because we are trying to earn points and stay credit with Starwood.

Does anyone have other ideas of places to look for discounts for the Sheraton Safari?

Thank you!

I checked Hotelmartusa, it does not offer it for your dates.
Check other travel sites, start with DreamsUnlimited.com (Board Sponsor), Hotelkingdom.com, Hotels.com, Orbitz.com, Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, OrlandoInfo.com, etc.

Good Luck.
