We have the Sheraton Safari booked at a special rate of $49 for our upcoming trip. I've read a few reviews that indicate the rooms might be a little run down and worn. Anyone stayed there recently and maybe gotten a recently redone room? Maybe there's a wing or specific location I could request that might be beneficial.

Thanks for the link. Especially helpful was the bus schedules they included.

We stayed there the past two years for 1 night each trip, the night before we checked into the Boardwalk. Our room both times was nice. It was clean and not run down. It has a safari theme, the pool has a slide which is a snake and the grandaughter loved it. We got the room thru priceline and were happy with it for the one night. Very convenient to restaurants and stores. No complaints.

I havent stayed in it lately because we have become too spoiled with staying on site and some of that is due to ds asthma but we have stayed there before. I found it to be a good value for the money and the kitchen area is a big plus. We have 3 ds and we could not get them out of that pool with the snake slide. I did not use any of the onsite restraunts so I can't comment on that either. Our room faced the pool and the other side faced the street. We were upstairs on the 2nd floor.

Hi Rpsemont:

We just returned from staying at the Sheraton Safari (Oct 4 - 9th) - and we really loved it. Although it was offsite it is only a few minutes by car to Downtown Disney.

Our room was in building #4 - and since we are Starwood Preferred members - we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. We had a small living area with couch, table, fridge, microwave, sink and cupboards. A second room contained the master bedroom. The vanity was seperate from the bathroom. Our room was very clean with updated rugs and decor. Parking was right beside the room - which after a long day of shopping was a great treat.

We would definitly stay there again, as we found it to be an incredible value ( we also had a $49.00 rate).

Hope you like it as much as we did!

travelitis,
I have the same rate. Call and ask for the JUNGLE promotion. $49 for a standard room, but then if you're SPG maybe you can upgrade. The Suite is $99 on the JUNGLE Promotion.

Thanks for the info kimang. I'm hoping for an upgrade too even though it looks like we'll only be there one night. When the JUNGLE promo came out, I booked there for 3 nights, which was overlapping with 2 nights we had at the Dolphin. I figured with the $100/night I'd save we could enjoy more at the F & W Festival. But alas, DH and BIL vetoed saving the money so we're there for just one night.

It will be great to be able to check it out. Maybe I can get them to book me the JUNGLE rate for Feb vacation when we go next year!

We also went to the Sheraton Dolphin for a two night stay after our five nights at the Safari - and I was a bit disapointed after the Safari Sheraton. Mostly because we went from a large room - and king bed ( for $49) to a small room with two double beds (for $129). The location of the Dolphin really can't be beat though and that's the magic of staying onsite!

Have a great trip!

Kimang,

I think the fact that we have tickets for Party for the senses is what swayed the boys. We'll put DD in Sandcastle club and be able to walk to epcot and more importantly walk "home" to the dolphin after all that wine. LOL!.

BTW - Did you get any upgrade at the Dolphin with your SPG? You don't get a bigger room, but I've heard some people get nice view, balcony or concierge.

Hi Anne :

I know what you mean ...there is nothing better than being able to walk home after an evening of fun ;) .

At the Dolphin we were given the choice of a renovated room without a balcony or a regular room with a balcony. We took the room with the balcony - I really like sitting out in the evening and first thing in the morning with my coffee. We were happy we did.

The week we were there - the hotel was hosting a big conference and was sold out - all the King rooms were gone - but I was pleased that they offered us the choice between the two rooms. Our view faced the pool and MGM. All in all we were very happy with our choice - although I would have liked to have tried their 'heavenly bed' I wanted to have a balcony more! I would consider both an upgrade. :Pinkbounc

Cheers,

Kim
