Sheraton Park? Anyone stayed there?

Is this a passive-aggressive reply to my post? If so, I'm not expecting hors d'oeuvres to replace a meal. I am expecting people to behave respectfully and not pile all of the food onto their own plate, leaving nothing for others. I'm expecting hotel staff to make sure that all of the club level members have access to the food and drinks that are included in their room rate. If breakfast, beverages, and hors d'oeuvres are included in my room rate, I expect to be able to enjoy those things without stress or worry.
Calm down. I think some people are a little dramatic about a few lousy finger foods. Sorry if I offended you.

Thank you for sharing this. I have reserved a club level room for us for a week's stay in August, and one of the main reason I selected this hotel and chose club level was because of the food and drink options that are rolled in to the hotel room cost. But now I am worried, and from what I have read about club level at other hotels (including on site) I am thinking maybe it isn't worth it for us. My kids will probably eat food, if it is available, and I'd love the access to free wine in the evenings, but if the food will be sparse, and there will be people hoarding the food (I've read that about on site club level), and if the food won't be replenished, the stress of "OMGhurryupweneedtogetfoodbeforeitisgone!!!!!!!!!" is going to suck the fun out of our trip. Ugh. Now I'm not sure what to do, and I wonder if staying elsewhere is a better idea.

My post above was about Sunday night. Monday and Tuesday were better than Sunday night. From 5pm to 5:45pm all food was available, even though the lounge was quite crowded. On Monday and Tuesday, round 5:45 (the time we left the lounge) one of the entrees was gone, but everything else was still there. On both Monday and Tuesday I dropped in again at 6:50pm to grab a couple of free beer. Both times the food was well stocked, and the lounge was empty.

Based upon my experiences over the last three days, I'd say that a family arriving at 5PM, or closer to 7PM, will find the food well stocked. Between these two times, some food may run out, but it will eventually be replaced. I'm here for three more days, so I'll try to give additional updates on how the next three evenings work out.

I think anyone who expects the evening hor d'ouvres to replace a meal is going to be disappointed. It's only meant to be a snack.

I think your comment is true for most people. Tonight the hot entrees were cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers and mini corn dogs. The four of us were content to make this a meal (along with the vegi tray, fruit tray, cheese and cold cuts, etc.), but I can understand if other people like to have something more filling for supper. We tend to eat light at supper, and have more at lunch time, so we really have no complaints about the food here.

Any other recent reviews of the Sheraton Park?

Has anyone had a rollaway bed in their room? Just wondering if there is space for that.

We just checked in yesterday (June 28) for a six day stay at the Sheraton Park, Club Level. To clarify a few things from this thread:

They are giving us free internet in our room, but not because of the promotion SomeGuyInOz referred to. Apparently, they give free internet to all guests who are staying at the Club Level, but not to other guests. When my daughters connect to the internet, we still have to log in using room number and last name, and there is a message saying our room will be billed $10/day or so for using the internet, but the front desk assures me that at check out time there will be no charge for internet.

That is so ironic! We checked in on the exact same date as you, also for a 6 night stay in a club level room! :-)

In regards to the internet, I mentioned the SPG promo to the front desk staff at check-in and they said "that promotion hasn't come to our hotel yet", even though I had already been told it would be honored. He then said they'd comp the internet for us, anyway. He never mentioned that it is included simply because we were staying in a club level room. We had 5 devices we wanted to connect, but when I asked about the 3 device limit, I was told we would be charged for additional devices. I somehow doubt that would have happened, but I didn't take the risk, so I had to leave my phone and iPad offline the whole time.

The rooms were actually more comfortable and more modern than I was expecting. We found the beds very comfortable and ended up with a balcony room facing the Disneyland Resort. There was construction work going on outside through the day, but that didn't bother us since we were out most of the day, anyway.

We ate breakfast in the club room every day of our stay, but only managed to make it for hors d'oeuvres in the evening once, since we were in the parks most days. Breakfast was fairly basic, but it was all we needed.

We intended to use the pool, but never did. Also, as easy as it was to walk to the Toy Story Car Park, most of the time we chose to drive there, because my daughter can't walk long distances. (I have a premium annual pass so Disneyland parking was free).

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if the rate was good :-)

We love our stay in May! Wonderful hotel and would be staying there again in Oct. if the price wasn't jacked up so high! That being said, we would not choose club level again. Now, we did not go in the evenings because it was easier to eat in the parks, but breakfast but was beyond disappointing. All I had was cranberry juice and a pastry that was terribly dry and old tasting. I took 2 bites and threw it away. My daughter is super picky and could not find anything to eat. The cereal selection was not kid friendly , IMO. So, we all got a drink and went and ate breakfast in the parks. We felt it was a definite waste of SPG points. Despite that, We loved the hotel, the view from the room, and great customer service. Beds were super comfy and bathroom was big enough for our needs.

We love the Sheraton Park Hotel. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds are very comfortable after a long day at the parks.

The pool area is a nice oasis with the palm trees and greenery.

Try and request a Disney view room with a full balcony....we have always done this so we could watch the fireworks from our room on arrival day.

I hope you have a great time!!

Has anyone had a rollaway bed in their room? Just wondering if there is space for that.

Lots of activity on this thread since the last time I checked in.

Currently staying at the Sheraton Park for the second time in the past two weeks (a six day stay, followed by 3 days at other hotels, followed by a 4 day stay back at the Sheraton Park). I just went to the front desk and asked about rollaway cots in the room, and here is the reply straight from the horse's mouth (as we say in Canada; I'm sure that our Disney buddy SomeGuyInOz would use a similar colourful Australian expression such as: "straight from the crocodile's butt"; but I digress...).

For a standard room, the maximum occupancy is 5 people, although my tests on the Starwood website indicate that trying to book 5 people into a room is not allowed. Presumably, you would have to phone the hotel directly to do a 5 person in a room booking.

We are currently in a 2 queen room, which has little room for a cot. The front desk has confirmed that they do not allow cots into a 2Q room. They do allow one cot into a room with 1 king bed.

The bottom line:

(1) they allow two beds per room, either 2Q or a King with a cot.

(2) five guests are allowed per room, subject to condition (1).

Basically, I think it is possible to have up to 2 adults and 3 children in a room, but it would be difficult if not impossible to have more than 2 adults included in the 5 person limit.

Got to get back to the lounge for "last call", so I can get one more free beer...

EDIT:

Just got my last free beer of the evening. The front desk also told me that the hotel has 4 suites (maximum occupancy unknown), but the employee told me she had no idea how much those cost per night. I suspect the cost is outrageous, but I guess a person would have to phone the hotel directly to find out just how outrageous.

I'll reply to other recent posts in this thread tomorrow.

Ugh, I called them today and was told that for sure they will put a rollaway in my room, which has been reserved as a 2Q. If they won't, that is a deal-breaker and we need to book elsewhere. I didn't state that my room was a 2Q, but that's how I booked it and she was looking at my reservation when we spoke (I know this because she confirmed my request for a rollaway that I had made online). I guess I'll be calling again tomorrow.

Has anyone actually had a rollaway bed in their room?

Let us know how the phone call goes. I'm here for one more day, so if they tell you something which conflicts with what the front desk told me yesterday, I can go to the front desk tonight and see if I can get a definitive answer for you.

I'm not certain, but I think some rooms have two doubles. Perhaps they allow a cot into a room with two double beds? Although this would contradict the employee I talked to who insisted the cots are only allowed into the King rooms.

Maybe they'd allow two cots in a king room???

*************

In regards to my post last week about food running out during the evening, I realized that on the Sunday we checked in there was only one employee in the lounge from 5pm to 7pm. I think that was the cause of the food shortage. All other evenings there have been two employees working, so when food was running low one employee would stay and man the bar, while the other employee would go for more food. Other than the first evening, I haven't noticed any serious food shortage.

I just called and said that "a friend" was staying at the hotel and shared what you were told, and the person I spoke with in reservations confirmed that they don't allow rollaway beds in 2Q rooms. So (and I'm not asking YOU or anyone here this, just venting) WHY was I allowed to add on that request when I booked it, and WHY was I told TWICE on the phone that it would be no problem having a rollaway bed in our room??? This sucks! Now almost every other hotel is booked up, and I've budgeted based on THIS hotel, and now 1 month before we leave I have to change our plans! We had just become loyal Sheraton customers before, but not anymore.

Just back from a stay at the Sheraton Park with club level (used the 1000 points a night thanks to earlier poster's suggestion) and for those asking about gluten free options in the club room the answer is yes, there are some. Breakfast has the most options: fruit, hard boiled eggs. Yoplait yogurt and my son loved making hot chocolate (Swiss Miss) with steamed milk. Morning server also called chef and got us GF muffins, plus brought up GF rolls to use at happy hour.
Evening happy hour had some GF items: fresh veggies, hummus, Butterball mesquite chicken, cheese, fresh fruit.

Thanks so much for sharing this!! Now I can be even more excited to stay at the club level, knowing I can eat something!!

I agree that the behavior of the hotel is inexcusable, although I think I know why the employee you talked to on the phone allowed you to make an invalid request.

I stayed at the Sheraton Park for two days in Dec/2014, and had a minor question (I can't recall what it was) I needed answered prior to my stay. The employee I talked to on the phone said that she worked for some sort of answering service, and that she couldn't answer my question. She said that if a call to the Sheraton Park wasn't picked up by the third ring, then the call was forwarded to the answering service. I tried phoning the hotel three times, and always got the answering service, so I finally resorted to sending an email to the hotel to get my question answered.

Clearly, if the Sheraton Park makes use of an answering service for doing bookings, then they should make sure that the service doesn't allow invalid bookings.

The DIS included the Sheraton Park in its "7in7+ Disneyland Edition" coverage.
Here's an overview video of the hotel: Sheraton Park Overview and here's a discussion of the hotel: Sheraton Park

Just wanted to say that the "7 in 7" Disneyland videos were excellent, although it took me a while to find them all since they are listed under the Disneyworld edition of DISUNPLUGGED and not the Disneyland edition. I was pleased at how high the Sheraton Park was ranked in the video (just a hair behind the Hilton).

Try and request a Disney view room with a full balcony....we have always done this so we could watch the fireworks from our room on arrival day.

During our last stay, the hotel gave us a free upgrade to Park View which was nice (the guest who was in the room we were supposed to get was taking advantage of "late checkout", so our room wouldn't have been ready until at least 5pm, so the hotel gave us the free upgrade).

The view of the fireworks was excellent. Prior to the fireworks starting, my daughter tried something interesting. She had the following main street fireworks video ready to go on her IPAD:

and the instant she saw the castle change colour from pink to blue, she hit "play" on the video. This perfectly synchronized the video with the actual fireworks (to within less than a second or so), so we were able to watch the fireworks from the room but with a soundtrack. Even Tinkerbell and Nemo were clearly visible from the room, although very small of course. Several times during the fireworks I held up the IPAD so I could compare the video to the actual fireworks, and the two were always identical. The music stayed perfectly synchronized with the actual fireworks right up to the end.

That is so ironic! We checked in on the exact same date as you, also for a 6 night stay in a club level room! :-)

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if the rate was good :-)

I had good luck in August/2014 at the Sheraton Park identifying guests as Australian based upon their accents (when I heard what I thought was an Australian accent in the elevator, I'd start up a conversation with words to the effect of "I assume you're from Australia?"). The next three times I tried this (twice at Christmas and once on the first day of my August/2015 trip) I got people who were from England and not Australia. Since my luck seemed to have changed for the worse, I stopped "accusing" people of being from Australia.

I do believe, however, that we possibly sat beside you one day at breakfast. There was a family sitting by the window (along the "computer" wall at the east side of the Club room) who were speaking with what I was certain was an Australian accent, but I never talked to them (expecting the usual reply of: "nope, we're from England").

As I've stated before in this thread, I use purchased Starwood points to do my upgrade to Club, at a total cost of $26.25/day for the upgrade. For my family of four, I think this is an excellent deal. However, I've come to realize that, while the food is perfectly acceptable to us, it might not be up to everyone's standards. I think the excellent coffee in the morning and the free alcohol in the evening makes me willing to overlook certain deficiencies in the food offerings.

After our initial 6 day stay at the Park, we moved to the Ramada Maingate for one night, and had a meal at Mimi's restaurant by the Howard Johnsons. After six days of Sheraton Park food, the Mimi's food tasted excellent. I definitely plan on making Club Level at the two Sheraton hotels (the Park and the one down Harbor in Garden Grove) our default, but on each trip I'll probably continue to book a stay or two at other hotels, too, and get some variety by eating out at various restaurants (both inside and outside the parks) during our non-Sheraton days.

BREAKFAST
- Tropicana individual juice bottles (orange, apple, cranberry, and on occasion grapefruit)
- individual white milk (skim, 2%, whole) and chocolate milk

I was doing some research into the Marriott/Starwood merger, and came across a recent post on another forum which mentions the Sheraton Park. I figured I'd post the new info here, just in case someone comes across this thread and assumes the "food info" from earlier posts in this thread is still current.

As of July/2015, the Sheraton Park was still supplying individual milk containers and juice bottles in the concierge lounge, as described above.

The following excerpts are taken from a December 2, 2015 post on the FLYERTALK forum, which indicate individual bottles are no longer provided. I cannot personally confirm that the following info is correct, perhaps another disboards poster can?

***************************

The lounge has gone down hill on the breakfast side. No more individual juices/milk cartons/ etc. It honestly feels like a freebie breakfast at a FI or SH .

The night time is much better but it gets packed quickly and because it's close to disneyland you get a lot of people that "bring in people". They could benefit from enforcing who uses the lounge but I'm not holding my breath.

You can book club level on points by calling SPG. The current rate is 11,000 points per night (with 5th night free). If you booked before March 10 ( when the hotel changed from category 3 to 4) or on a special rates (such as Nights and Flights), then ask for the upgrade at check in. It should be 1000 points per night. If you booked after March 10 and are not on a rate that requires booking a standard room, you can call and cancel the standard room in favor of a club level room (assuming it's available). -- Suzanne

Just booked four nights at the Sheraton Park on points for our September anniversary. Thanks to you, I just realized I could add a fifth night to our trip for free, so I'm going to cancel and rebook. And then I'll see about the club upgrades.

Here's the thing, I'm short on points by about 3K for the club upgrades. Worth the $175 to pay for the points now and assure ourselves a club room, or do you think I'm safe waiting a month until my next Amex deposit to do the upgrades for free?

tbruno@sheratonparkanaheim.com. This is the e-mail address of the manager of the Sheraton Park hotel. At least it was a year or so ago. Easiest thing to do up front is just contact them and ask if you can get an upgrade. It won't cost you anything other then the time to write the e-mail. I have gotten the upgrgade a few times through points and once by just asking. If you have been a member for a while or have some status with the rewards club, then give it a try. For me the free breakfast and the ability to take as many bottles of water and juice was worth every penny. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't really have much status, but I think I'll see about waiting until next month and seeing if I can get the point upgrade. Not sure how much we'll use the amenities, probably just for breakfast. We like to have dinner in the parks. I'm trying to wrangle a "friend of a friend" into a reservation at Club 33, but I think there's little chance of that happening. I'll plan something else nice for our anniversary dinner.
