I am tempted to get a shellac for our trip and am concerned with sunscreen ruining it. It happens to me all summer. For some reason it eats away at the polish. Does anyone have experience with shellac? I am thinking it may hold up for the trip?

I have also had trouble with some sunscreens and regular manicures. for some reason it softens the polish and etches the surface making my nails dull and easy to peel. I had a gel manicure last summer for my two week vacation and it stayed tough and shiny all through my vacation and well into a third week back home. For me there were none of the issues that I have had with traditional manicures and sunscreen.

I Love Shellac! I have it now and usually get it done every 2 weeks!! I have not used sunscreen with having it on, but I do not think it will affect it. I wash my hands about 30 times a day, and have some strong chemicals on them and it doesn't do anything to it! I highly suggest it :)

I did the shellac last summer when hubby and I went to WDW, and didn't have any problems. I used copper tone sport sunscreen.

Yes I've had both Shellac and Gelish on hols and had no problerms at all with varying Banana Boat/Hawaian Tropic/Piz Buin lotions.
You'll be fine!

The only time I get shellac done is for when we are going to Disney! just because it lasts so long and i don't have to worry about my nails on the trip! And, we go every year in august, so i have to lather on the sunscreen all day, but my nails still looked perfect! :thumbsup2

I do shellac year round. The girl who does my nails is excited to be doing a Disney design since I am so boring the rest of the year. I am going to have her do my Pedi to match with a rhinestone Mickey head. I am excited to see what she has in mind. Shellac does last a really long time. I usually get about three weeks out of each mani.

Also big fan of shellac, get mine done every 3 weeks or so and will add my toesies in too when summer arrives. I also have my hands in all kinds of chemicals and after about 3 weeks they might chip a little, that's when I know it is time for my next mani. I have heard from others that dark colors tend to chip easier. I haven't used sunblock yet so I don't know about that, but I do usually use Coppertone Sport.

Blessings, Michelle

I did a shellac manicure for our recent Jamaican vacation, and I used a LOT of sunscreen. I didn't notice an issue with my nails at all!

I had major problems with sunscreen when I had acrylic nails. However, last summer was my first with Shellac. I didn't run into any problems.

I had fabulous Shellac minnie nails the last time I went to Disney, no probs at all! x
