Ust off the Magic and they now have a shawarma counter on the Magic by Pete's Boiler. It was awesome with all the fixings.

That's cool that there's a station now! We had it in Dec it was really good. The "pita" bread was yucky, but the actual meat part was delicious. Just wish they'd get some "real" yogurt sauce. Yum!!

Oh, my hubby is in love with that stuff! Somehow I missed it... Yet another reason to book another cruise!

Wow... can't believe I missed this! Will have to try it in September.

Oh wow! Mid East food is our FAVORITE! Do you know what all was there? Were there like chicken kabobs too? Any hummus or labne (the extra thick strained yogurt) or baba ganouj? (my MOST favorite food in the world?) Or is it like gyro style stuff? I don't eat beef or lamb but I LOVE a greek salad and greek food. We were very happy with the new addition of the quick service Middle Eastern food at EPCOT in Morrocco (a totally different style than the sit-down restaurant.)

Yumyumyum! :thumbsup2

My wife and I went on the Magic in January, and they only had the beef shwarma going and were prepping for adding the chicken rotisserie.

That said, it was awesome. I admit that I ruined my appetite for dinner a couple of times. But I remember they had several base spreads to put in your pita that included hummus, taziki, baba ganoush and some hot red spicy sauces (can't recall what they were called). Then the meat goes in, and you pick a topping, which could be simply be diced tomato or onions, or a Kachumber salad (no, that's not a typo), and more.

It's excellent. Definitely my favorite counter dining option on the ship, hands-down.

Woohoo!!! Baba in the house!!! Even if I have to make it vegetarian (although maybe they DID get chicken this time!) I'm going to be a VERY happy cruiser!

Glad my dinner is at 8:15. Cuz its hard to fit in lunch when you have lots of plans at Nassau and Castaway and I missed the embarakation lunch on Dream and don't want to miss it and all the seafood on this Magic, so that's one lunch. Maybe half a lunch when I board, a Mid east appetizer around 5 and than dinner at 8. Who says late dining is bad hehehe

Woohoo! Disney brings the Magic with Baba Ganouj, GF wonders, and Coke Zero.

Do I really have to leave? ;)

It was awesome! Just beef in February.

I went crazy over all the toppings and sauces!

It was a really good addition for the fast food options! Bravo Disney! :thumbsup2

Is this only on Magic or does the Dream have this? Is there greek or indian food on the Dream?

The tandoori grill on Carnival was one of the few things I liked on that cruiseline. Would enjoy seeing DCL expand on ethnic foods, especially vegetarian options that can be tasty and not too expensive and easy to keep warm or cold (hummus, tatziki, etc) on a buffet and still taste good.

I used this station several times during our January cruise - a nice option compared to more chicken fingers! I tended to grab a few fries from the station next door to go with my pita :)

Is it on any other ships? We're doing the Wonder next February- my hubby is obsessed with hummus

So far this seems to be only on the Magic. It's inspired by MARVEL's Avengers Academy, which is only on the Magic.

Thanks for the photos, PP!

As far as being inspired by Marvel, I'm lost on that one. Unless you mean its exclusive to the Magic and so is this. Good for us, then I guess.

Marvel and Hummus... trying to workout the correlation...

If you saw the movie Avengers, Tony Stark/Iron Man said he wanted to go out for shawarma after they saved the world. At the very end of the movie after the credits, all the super-heroes were sitting at a table in a restaurant eating shawarma.

Thanks for this! I did see it, did not remember that. That is a GREAT idea of inspiration though... We are all going to be very happy cruisers!
