can you put a shaving kit(shampoo extra) and sun tan lotions in your checked bags?
Thanks for any info

Absolutely, but remember if you are flying you still have to follow the TSA 3-1-1 rule.

Just be prepared for a TSA inspectionof your checked luggage.

A few trips back they absolutely ransacked Mrs U's cosmetic bag--and then didn't close it after they were done. The luggage was damaged as a result.

Anything liquid, I put in two zip-lock bags. DH carries his shaving bag and I have my cosmetic bag. It all goes in checked luggage.

I don't trust double zip bags, I triple zip mine.

I also put them in a small plastic box w/ a lid that seals. I take no chances. I also don't pack full bottles, and I squeeze some of the air out of the bottle if I can. Liquids tend to expand(?) while flying.

Do you use 3 bags as well and then put them in the plastic boxes?

I use 2 baggies and put in plastic boxes. I squish all the air out of the baggies, and put the zipper ends opposite each other.

Anyone ever had TSA ransack those bags like they did ours???

And not put it back as they found it??

Yes, and it is incredibly annoying. They opened a factory sealed box of needles (my son is diabetic), and we found the needles loose all over the suitcase. They didn't uncap them (thank goodness) but we still were not going to use them after they had been handled by somebody else. We had to find a pharmacy to get a new box before the rest of our trip.
Now we just put them all in the carry on bag (more stuff to carry).

It has been a few years since I have flown, you guys seen so knowledgable. Do I need TSA luggage locks? I only plan on my checked bags containing, clothes and our cosmetics, sunscreen, etc.

Maybe some snacks in a 2nd checked bag so we have souvenir space on the way home.

Ugh that is terrible. Why would they ever need to open something that is factory sealed. If they needed to double check it they should have just sent it through the xray on its own.

I do as others have said and ziploc all liquids. I try not to fly with them any more simply because we have gotten luggage back that was ransacked by the TSA and it looked almost like they took the bottle and put it on everything rather than an accident. Not saying they did but it felt like that when you get all your nicely folded luggage back unfolded and shoved in the case covered in sun tan lotion.

Never. And I've been flying since 1987.

Glad you're carrying on your medical supplies now.

I don't lock my bags. Sometimes dh will zip tie the bags. Easy enough for tsa to clip if they want to get in.

I've never had an issue carrying on little fingernail clippers to open the zip tie but dh always packs his in an outside pocket of a checked bag.
