Sharon's Journal -150 here I come!

Hi Sharon!

I'm popping back in to say that today is a definite ::yes:: for the exercise challenge. I've managed 1 mile so far (no thanks to DS), and I'm determined to get the other 2 in before heading to bed tonight.

I'm glad you've made a decision concerning DS's reading on Friday. I know just what you mean about taking advantage while they still want you around. DD is already starting to  from time to time, and I know that dropping her off a block from school is just around the corner.

You're doing an awesome job with your program. Your positive attitude is SO INSPIRING!

Have a good evening....I'll check back in as soon as the miles are done!

~Angela :wave2:

Well I had a ruff late afternoon yesterday. I had to leave work early because I had babysitter issues. For some reason when I got home I was absolutely starving - maybe because it was an hour and a half early? and I was just off schedule? So anyhow, I snacked. It wasn't awful, but again, it is emotional eating (bored) and that seems to really be my downfall lately. I need to get a grip on this type of eating and beat it once and for all!
I also ended up not exercising last night (sorry Angela! :( ) I guess the boredom got me so off schedule that I ended up running late with dinner and everything. Then I was just too tired to go up and do battle with the stepper. It is going to be tough to fit it into tonights schedule, but I WILL do it. Even if it is only 20 min - that's better than nothing.
I have been giving a lot of thought to my April goals. I want to make them more measurable by day, not so general. I haven't quite worked them out, but I will be ready for tomorrow am with them.
Oh, BTW, today was weigh-in day. I gained 1.5 lbs!! I tell ya, I just don't get it!:( But I am still feeling like I can beat this thing! My morning grapefruit and increased exercise is really gonna do the trick for me!:teeth:
Tuesdays food was:
100 oz water
B- 1/2 grapefruit .5 pt, honey nut cheerios 2 pts
L- lean pocket philly steak 6 pts, salad, carrots 0 pts
D- chicken leg 8 pts
S- peanuts 4 pts, cheese nips 5.5 pts

Total 26 pts ( target 22, flex 4) For the whole week I used 15 flex, which is pretty high for me. However, looking at the week, it looked pretty good for the Wendy theory. Points were 21.5,17.5, 23.5, 25.5, 28, 23, 27 = total 166 for the week. (Target of 22 x 7 days = 154) I have NO idea why I ended up with a 1.5 lb gain this week. Looking at the week as a whole, I just don't see it. My food choices have been really good and healthy. I'm gonna just keep plugging away. Summer is coming and I want to look good!:smooth:
Angela - I'm going for the exercise today!!:hyper:
I hope everyone has a :sunny: day today (we've got lots and lots of RAIN! )

Good Morning Sharon! Put yesterday behind you and look forward to today! Good job on the half of grapefruit every morning. I wasn't able to continue doing it this week because I ran out of grapefruit and money! I plan on picking some up this weekend and start doing it again next week.

I'm sorry the scale is not cooperating - want me to kick it?

~Amanda

Hi Sharon,
Sounds like yesterday was a tough day. I agree with Amanda...today is a brand new day!

I understand completely about the emotional eating. On Monday, I had to deal with a problem with my mom that really upset me. So, my response was to eat and eat and when I was done... eat some more. And of course, my food choices were not the best choices that I could have made either. Yesterday, I was down with the flu and ate very little so I guess that my body made up for Monday. I really want to beat this emotional eating in my life too. I'm not sure how, but I am open to suggestions.

Sounds like that *evil* scale needs a kick again!::yes:: The numbers on the scale don't always make sense do they? You have a great attitude about it and I know that you can beat it Sharon! You will be looking good this summer!::yes:: :Pinkbounc

Hope you have a wonderful day! It's raining quite a bit here too so here is some extra :sunny: for you! Take care, Sharon!

Tracy:wave2:

did someone mention a scale bashing party??? i'll be right over!!! that thing better watch out :duck:

your week's points really did look good! i don't know what the heck is going on. hmmmm. this may not apply to all types of exercise, i'm not sure, but i've been reading on the cool running message board that people who run in the morning before eating seem to be having an easier time dropping weight. maybe this could work for you with the stepper? i don't know if it would fit into your schedule to get up early though, that's the only problem. just a suggestion. i'm really thinking about moving my running to mornings as soon as the weather is really cooperating, for this exact reason. and yeah, my dad is telling me it's going to rain till tuesday. loads of fun

sorry bout those babysitter troubles too, that really stinks when your whole plan is thrown out of whack. i find that i do much better when i'm on a set schedule, and if anything changes, everything seems to have a domino effect. i wouldn't be too hard on yourself though, because you really did okay points-wise.

alright, time to end the marcia novel for today. hope you have a wonderful day today. i will conclude by sending you some :sunny:

Sharon, if you continue doing the right things with eating and exercise, that scale will HAVE to cooperate. You're doing a great job, in spite of the little blips like babysitter trouble emotional eating. You're still eating better than you used to! Hang in there!! ::yes::

I'm glad you decided to go to your son's Mass - it sounded like that's where your heart was. :D I know that's what I would have done. ::yes::

I hope the rest of your week goes well and I'll be watching the grapefruit experiment with great interest! :sunny:

Good evening Sharon!

Don't be silly about missing the exercise yesterday. Sometimes life throws us curves. I think we all know what it can be like when we've got things planned out and then the unexpected happens. I wouldn't have been able to exercise either. Hopefully, today went more smoothly, and you were able to give that evil stepper a good pounding this evening! ::yes::

Beat the fire out of that scale the next time you see it. As the others have said, you are doing all the right things. Your body is going to eventually repay the kindness you're showing it by giving you a beautiful number on the scale. Until that time, just keep on keepin' on. You can do it! ::yes:: We're both going to look fabulous by this summer. Maybe we can hijack Kenny Chesney's bus and get a private performance as a reward. Shame on me, I know. :teeth:

I did my 3 miles today. Are we on for exercise again tomorrow?

Have a good one!
Angela

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
Hope you haven't washed away in all this rain we seem to be getting ;) . Try not to let that gain get you down (I know MUCH easier said than done). If you keep doing what you're doing, you are going to look fabulous for July 4th ::yes:: ! Try to hang in there  .

Okay, another good day for yesterday. I know if I keep this up the weight HAS to eventually come off!
I exercised 20 min on the evil stepper. Yay!!:Pinkbounc
Food was
100 oz water
B- 1/2 grapefruit .5 pt, maple brown sugar oatmeal 3 pts
L- Wendy's chicken strips 7 pts, chicken noodle soup 2 pts
D- Wendy's bacon deluxe burger (oops!:p ) 13 pts
S - none! :smooth:

Total 25.5 pts (22 target, 2 APS, 1.5 flex)

I often get Wendy's chicken strips for lunch. It is quick and convienent for me and I can usually fit the pts in. Then last night, DS insisted on going to Wendys for dinner. I don't care for their salads and hadn't had a fast food cheeseburger in quite awhile, so I went for it. I guess this is why I gain weight instead of lose it!
And I must admit, I am really enjoying my 1/2 grapefruit in the mornings. I have the pink one and so far they've been really juicy, not too tart. YUM! Doe and Amanda, I'll keep you posted if it helps. :p
Marcia - morning exercise is plain out of the question for me. I get up at 5:20 AM as it is. I tried for awhile last year to get up at 4:30 AM a go for a morning walk. Didn't last too long  I'm not THAT much of a morning person!
Tracy - you and the others can come beat the C**P out of my scale anytime!!:teeth: And the emotional eating? Well, we will keep working on that one, right?!
Val - Nope, haven't washed away - YET!! And they are calling for S-N-O-W for Sunday!?! I don't think I can take anymore of that stuff
Alright, I'm going to go finish up the last touches on my April goals and then I will be back to post them. :teeth:

Alright, here are my April goals:

1) take vitamin daily -30 days out of 30
2) Count my blessings -30 days out of 30 (thanks Beth!;) )
3) be cheat free 75% of the time - 23 out of 30 days
4) Exercise at least 3 times per week or 22 out of the 30 days

I was cheat free for 18 out of 31 days in March, which is 58%, so 75% will be a challenge. A cheat free day will be were I eat within my points, APS and no more than 4 flex. I also need to feel like I am in control of my eating for it to be cheat free.
I will turn my bear back to 0 and start counting my cheat free days for the month. I am off to a very good start today, so hopefully it will have a pretty number 1 on him come tomorrow morning!:teeth:
Thanks for holding my feet to the fire ladies! Lets hope the scale appreciates what I am doing here!:smooth:

You've got some really good goals set there! You can do it!!!
WISHing you a great weekend!!!

Sharon those are some great goals! I like how you are laying out what is a cheat free day and what isn't. I had to do that as well. I was making Thin Mints work in my plan which according to my book is legal - however I don't think I'm going to lose much weight eating Thin Mints everyday. Darn Girl Scout Cookies! :)

You are going to do great! Just stick to your objectives and goals and you will be successful!

~Amanda

Good morning, Sharon!

You've got some great goals for this month. I especially like goal #2. I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish each and every one of them. ::yes::

Bravo on the exercise! That evil stepper will come to fear you before you're done with it! :p

Hope you have a great day! I can't believe your forecast is for snow this weekend. I sure don't miss living in the NE. :sunny:

~Angela :wave2:

hiya sharon

okay, you get up at 5:20am every day...please do ignore my suggestion of waking up even *earlier* to do exercise. wow, i'm just in awe that you can wake up that early to begin with! you get to that evil stepper whenever you get the chance then ::yes::

i love your goals! cheat free 75% of the time is doable. i know it will be a challenge, but if you want that weight to come off, you've just gotta make that deal with yourself. you can do it, and i'll be here busting your butt to make sure of it :p

oh yeah, and they're still forecasting *snow* for sunday!!! no way, not cool! we're into spring, and april for goodness sakes! here's to hoping the weather man is wrong, and that the :sunny: will come out and prevail. i can dream

so how'd yesterday work out? will that bear be a bright shiny #1? hope so, and hope you have a great day today too :bounce:

Hi Guys! I'm having one of those hectic days, so I'll post quick in my journal. Don't know if I'll get to others today, maybe tomorrow!;)
Yesterday was a cheat free day! Yay! Way to start my month rolling!:hyper: And yeah, Amanda, I had to be more specific of what was cheat free. With WW you can really have anything and then there are flex pts..... I seem to be getting in trouble with some of that stuff, thus no weight loss.

1) Vitamin taken 1/1
2) Blessings counted 1/1
3) cheat free 1/1
4) exercise 1/1 - did 20 min on the stepper

I am very pleased to have gotten my exercise in again yesterday. I think this challenge with Angela has really gotten me going and now it is becoming a little bit of a habit. I hope to keep it going!! Thanks Angela!:teeth:
I especially like that I started my new month off on the right foot. It could be a difficult month with Easter and kids April vacation, but I think I left myself enough room for those types of situations.

Food yesterday was:
100 oz water
B- 1/2 grapefruit, honey nut cheerios 2.5 pts
L- carrots and cubed cheese 3 pts
D- leftover chicken 8 pts
S - peanuts 8 pts, bread 2 pts

Total for day 23.5 (22 target, 2 APS)

I am just back from DSs mass - it was beatiful. They sang Angels Amoung Us and I cried. (I'm crying typing this too!! ) They are just SOOOO beautiful and grow up WAY to fast!! I am so happy I was able to be there. And even though he stuck his tongue out at me, that is his way of showing affection when he's around the other kids. I'll get my hugs and cuddles later!;) Now I'm off to pick them up from school and then to get soccer supplies and new school shoes!
So Marcia - ya wanna get up with me in the mornings?! hehehe! Its not so bad once you get used to it! (yeah, right!)
I hope everyone is having a great day. It is not raining today, but very cloudy and cool. And yes Marcia they are still predicting S**W for Sunday!

Sharon, so many blessings that you have to count today!! Your cheat free day yesterday - fabulous!!! You are off to a great start!! I'm so happy to hear that the Mass your son participated in was a wonderful experience!! That song is such a tear-jerker but in my heart, I believe it's true. ::yes::

Onward into the weekend, Sharon! We can do this! Let's get our bears off to a good start for the month!! :sunny:

:wave2: Hi Sharon,
The mass sounds abosolutely beautiful. I'm so glad you were able to go and see it first hand.

I really like how you made your cheat free more about being in control than anything else ::yes:: . Believe me, I understand EXACTLY what you mean.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend :sunny: !

Hello!:wave2: I've been MIA for two days now and feel like I'm really out of touch. Even this morning will have to be a quick stop and then I'm off to start my day. Lots I want to get done today!!!
I've been doing pretty well, I was a little bit snacky yesterday, but was in control and stayed OP, so that is good. Here's a summary of my goals:

1) Vitamins - 3/3
2) Blessings counted - 3/3
3) Cheat free - 3/3
4) Exercise - 2/3 -I didn't exercise Friday, but did 20 min on the stepper on Saturday.:smooth:

So I'm doing very well for the start of the month. There will be a lot of issues coming up this month, so I need to stay OP this week! Otherwise making my monthly goals will be difficult.
Food for Sat:

100 oz water
B- None -wasn't hungry
L- grilled cheese, peanuts 10 pts
D- taco ring (taco meat in a crescent roll ring - YUM!) 7 pts
S- peanuts 4 pts, popcorn 4 pts

Total for day 25 pts (target 22, APS 2, flex 1)
I'm going to roll my bear!!:teeth:

Doe and Val - thanks for all your support. It means the world to me! And I had the kids singing Angels Amoung Us around the house yeterday. It was so cute!::yes::
No sun again today. It is quite foggy out right now.:( Maybe by tomorrow we will see some :sunny: ! I have to go check the weather to see if we are still getting that white stuff later today!:earseek:

Well, this weather is really not helping my can-do attitude!! The sun is FINALLY out. But the wind is blowing!! It is about 32, but feels like 21! :scared1:
I was thinking on my way into work this morning, here I am, eating grapefruit and oatmeal for breakfast instead of toast or bagels, etc, and I STILL can't manage to lose weight!! Geesh!
The weekend went very well. I went out for breakfast with the family yesterday. I have avoided that lately, but I sat down and figured out the points before we left and figured I could do it. :teeth: It has been months since I went to Sunday morning breakfast - it was really nice! The rest of the day went well except I didn't exercise. I had every intention to, but the day just got away from me and I didn't get it done. :( Oh well, I will definitely do it tonight! ::yes::
Food for Sun was

100 oz water
B- belgian waffle, strawberries, whipped cream, 2 slices bacon 11 pts
L- none -see breakfast!:earseek:
D- roast beef and cottage cheese noodles 7 pts
S - yogurt 4 pts, peanuts 4 pts

Total for day 26 pts ( target 22, flex 4) That counts as another cheat free day!!:teeth:
Goals for the month progress:
1) vitamins - 4/4
2) count blessings - 4/4
3) cheat free - 4/4
4) exercise 2/4 - I'm still okay with this one. my goal is 3 times a week, so if I exercise tonight, that will be my 3rd time this week. My weigh-in day is Wednesday, so that is how I'm counting my weeks for exercise too.

Wow! I can't believe yogurt is 4 pts!! I grabbed that as a snack last night thinking I was being good. Then this morning I checked the pts - Wow! I'd rather have peanuts for 4 pts!!
Okay, I'm off to get some more work done. I didn't sleep well last night, so I need to do as much as possible this AM. I think the afternoon is gonna be rough!!
