Has anyone doen this yet?
Before I refer a friend I would kind of like to know whats going to be asked your know how does it all do down if its done on the phone?
I had a friend buy DVC dut because we lived in Texas they said we were excluded......... we got nothing but a thank you card.
Any help! popcorn::

It's against State law in Texas for anyone but licensed Realtors to receive referral awards. I've discussed this with our State law makers about changing the regulations but I couldn't get anyone interested.

Basically when your friend contacts DVC, they ask that person if they know anyone who currently owns DVC. The person then tells them your name and the DVC guide or phone rep looks you up in the computer and makes a note of it. Or if you use the special Sharing the Magic cards provided from time to time, or printable from the Member website, your friend turns that in and your name is already on it.

Then, if that friend actually joins and closes on a purchase, you get your reward, if you live in an eligible state - if not, you get a thank you card. It's pretty simple and straightforward really. There's nothing extra to it.

Sometimes having the referral provides additional incentive benefits on the purchasing side - sometimes not.

Is it the same thing for the 25$ gift card for a phone tour?

I don't think I live in an eligible state. Where can this information be found?

TIA

Disney appears to be confused on who can participate and who can't. Before passing on incorrect information, I went to DVD corporate and I am waiting for a call back from the program lead Cast Member. I will post my findings as soon as I hear anything.

Thanks for going to the trouble I was going to call my DVC rep next lets see what you get.:thumbsup2

The mailing has a ton of fine print on it as to who is eligible and who is not. I was bored for 10 min yesterday and went through it... can't find the mailing today though.

An interesting point I noted is that, if you qualify, you can get the $25 gc and then if your referral buys you also can get the referral award (remember the tiered reward chart). ~However~, as a snag for some, there is at least one state (gosh, I wish I knew where that card went!) that limits the number of total awards you can receive (to 12?) so is you're in one of those states, watch it, it might be better not to refer 12 folks for $25 gcs all at once when one or more of those folks may purchase DVC & you could get the larger reward(s).

Read the fine print! :3dglasses

I found this info regarding Disney's Referral Reward Program.

The Disney Vacation Club has a referral program under which current members are eligible for rewards when they successfully refer a friend or family member who also buys into the program. Due to state laws that regulate the timeshare industry, only DVC members living in certain states are eligible for a referral reward.
The eligible states are:

Alabama, Arizona*, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois**, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio**, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico is also an eligible jurisdiction.

*Maximum redemption of $600 per calendar year.
**Maximum redemption of $1000 per calendar year.

Note that it is the current member who must live in an eligible state to receive a reward. The residence of the prospective member is not relevant. For example, a member living in Alabama (on the list) will still receive a reward for referring a buyer who lives in Michigan (not on the list.)

Our experience has shown that DVC rewards may not be issued or received. We live in a state where such rewards are allowed. Friends did not receive anything as the refering party during a time when $200.00 in Disney Reward Dollars was given as the reward for referring people who bought DVC.

It is a nice program, but it is no incentive for us to offer DVC to others we know. If they are interested they will ask (and they don't) You either want in when in The World, or you don't. Anyone visiting The World can not miss the kiosks and smiles of Disney's Best Kept Secret.

I have had two people buy and since my state does not 'share in the magic' all I got was a card. If I can't get the gift cards I am not likely to push my friends to make this call. I live in Tennessee.
