We're taking another family on our trip in October-- a couple and their 4 yo dd. Only the mom has been to WDW (in the early '80s). This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime trip for them. They're not quite getting the importance of planning. How do I help them to see the big picture-- how big Disney is, how many opportunities there are, etc without seeming like a complete commando-control freak? :earseek: (Which I am, but I don't want to seem that way.)

DH is of the mind that if they miss out on things, oh well too bad for them. Maybe I should adopt his attitude and give up on they hyper-Disney commando thing.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

i think you should spend time with them searching through the disney world website. that way they can see and read about what things appeal to them. also talk to the child and ask what his or her fave character is.

I would just try to teach/help them, but if they don't seem receptive and just get they dazed look, give it up. If they like to read, you can loan them a guide book too. But, some people aren't going to get it until they experience it themselves. And some people already know everything about everything and you can't tell them anything...ya know what I mean. ;)

I agree with the teaching thing...maybe you could have them over and watch the Disney Vacation video and help them come up with a list of their own "must see's".

Then, like a *true* Commando, you can plan their trip for them!:sunny:

Express to them the importance of PS and everything. Maybe make up a little time table for them.

I tend to get very hyper over Disney vacations. Don't know why. They're approaching it like a trip to Six Flags. :crazy2: I think we just have different styles-- they're more laid back and I am, and always will be, a Disney commando.

Maybe we need a little commando smiley or avatar for the board.
