We currently have a trip planned during the free dining promotion. My husband and I like nicer restaurants and sit down meals but our 12 year son is not a big eater. I'm considering upgrading to the deluxe dining plan, but I'm wondering it might be more cost effective if I just share with my son at some meals in order free up points for some 2 credit dining and/or paying out of pocket if we go over. Thoughts?

If you upgrade, you will have 9 meal credits per night of your vacation. These all come with app, entrée, dessert, and non-alcoholic drink, and all of you are adults. Do you have enough meals to use all those credits? With your DS being a light eater, that's a lot of food on the table.

However, if you have the regular DDP with your free promotion, even if you leave some food on the table, it may be cheaper to do the upgrade than pay OOP for extras. It depends on how many nights and how many extra meals you want. The cost for the three of you to upgrade would be approx. $110/night of your stay.

If you can give us an idea of where you want to make ADRs and how many nights you're staying, we can help a little more.
