Sharing Photopass

I've read about quite a few people sharing photopass with other families to share the cost of the cds. Does anyone have experience of this - did it work for you?

I'm really keen to get photopass but the cost is putting me off slightly - I'd love to share with another family (or families?) if it has worked for others in past?

My trip dates are 3rd September - 17th September 2011 - anyone going around the same time and fancy sharing the pre pay photopass?

Organizing photopass shares is no longer allowed on the disboards. There is a facebook group for photopass shares, though.

Yes this thread will most likely be closed.

The reason is that there were too many problems with people creating shares, collecting money and not following through.

I also think people blamed the DIS somehow.

Also I would not trust a complete stranger. Its too easy to take over an account. If the other person changes the password you can be locked out.

I took a small (45 kids) band group last Feb and wanted to create some sort of share. The more I thought about it, the worse idea it became.

I had a really good experiece with one last Oct. If you decide to do one, maybe check with the person if they've organized one before and see if you can contact anyone who was in the share to see how it went.

OK my plan was for the band to pay for the CD.

Then I would collect all the cards for the group.

Then I thought, how would everyone get to edit their pictures? Ok give everyone the username and password and they could edit their own pics.

Then I started to think of all the ways the kids could screw around.

For example, imagine someone putting a just married border on someone else's pic that maybe had two girls or two guys or a guy a Mouse.

Then I thought that someone could edit the login info and lock maybe even me out of the account. If they just changed the password I could reset it, but if they could also change the email address well shows over.

So next idea, I somehow coordinate adding borders to everyones pics and I'm like no way you are all on your own.

So the story is, if you get into a share you have to trust the person you do it with. Once you give someone else your PP code and they attach it to their account, its theirs.

If they don't come through, I can't think of anyway you could convince the PP that the pics are yours and you need them back on your account. You may work it out, but by then your pics may be expired.

simple soultion for a trip like that
still get one big photo pass just get the cd and copy it and not do the online edit

granted its a lot of copies to make of the cd but onec a few are made you can pass the work on to other parents

for scouts when we take pics on trips we post them all to a secure part of the troop webiste for the parents and kids to download at there leiser
