I am looking for experiences of sharing on the dining plan. My fiance and I will be traveling with my future mother in law in dec. We are staying seperate and while he and I will have the dining plan she will not. I have used the plan before and know how much food you recieve and thought she could just share with us at table service so that we do not waste anything. I am looking for experiences of sharing 2 meals between 3 people, and if you ran into any problems, rude cm's or if they would just bring you another plate? Should she order a side salad or something? She will be ordering a drink and paying OOP for that. I am looking specifically at 50's prime time and some others. Not sure where yet. I know that buffets and cindy's castle for dinner are out of the question, but I am wondering about the others...Any experiences would be helpful. Thanks, mena292

I am coming across the same situation in Sept. I am going solo and a friend of mine who lives in Orlando may meet me for dinner at Spoodles. Of course, I am on the dining plan and she is not. I will certainly have plenty of food for the two of us. She will probably order an appetizer and split the other things with me.

I was thinking about letting the server know his/her tip won't suffer because we are sharing a meal. Something like "We'd like to share my meal if that would be okay and we'll take care of you."

I think if you MIL ordered a salad, shared the rest and you a little extra (if he/she was accomodating) would be appropriate.

Good luck! :goodvibes

I have heard mixed things. Some people say you can do it, and others have had bad experiences. I think it can't hurt to give it a shot. :confused3

I know DD13 and I are going to try to share when possible at both CS and TS. Neither of us are big eaters and we both could eat just an appetizer or a salad for a meal and be perfectly full. We also don't really eat alot when it is hot out.
So far I have planned:
Arrive late Wed
Thur
Breakfast at Crystal Palace with Pooh 2 TS
Lunch Cosmic Rays 1/2 rib - 1/2 chicken 1CS
Dinner Mama Melrose 1 TS
3 TS 1CS
Friday
Breakfast Rainforest Gift Card Share a Viper Pizza
Lunch Flame Tree or Sunshine 1 CS
San Angel 1 TS
Epcot Late Entry so probably 1 CS late
4 TS 3 CS
Saturday
Breakfast at Food Court 1 CS
Lunch at Food Court or Wolfgang 1 CS
Dinner Turf Club at SSR 1 TS
5 TS 5 CS
Sunday
Breakfast at Food Court or AK 1 CS
Lunch Pecos Bills 1 CS
Dinner Tony's Town Square 2 TS
MK open late probably 1 CS late
7 TS 8 CS
Monday
Breakfast Kona Cafe 1 TS may need to do OOP for DD depends on her mood
Lunch LeCellier Steakhouse 2 TS
Leave around 5 on Magical Express grab 2 CS to go meals
10 TS 10 CS
Plus I still have 10 snacks to fit in somewhere.

Just got back from a 10 nite stay. We split meals at Spoodles, ESPN, Kona Cafe and Le Cellier. Should have done it at CRT, but since we had 2 tables(8 people), it was too hard to move the plates around, etc. But it was way too much food for 1 person. With splitting meals, this gave us the chance to try more places to eat.:cool1: :cool1:

the dining plan literature says NO SHARING with people not on the DDP!

No problem, and thanks for all of the input. My boyfriend and I will just share a meal since we are both on the plan, and my FMIL can pay out of pocket. This will free up some of our credits for breakfasts! So I guess I am asking about him and I sharing. Thank you for all of the posts so far, more more, more!!! I am so excited for our upcoming trip! Thanks missy
