:wave2: dont know if this has ever been addresssed ... but here's my question

on the dining plan (free or otherwise) and using sci-fi drive inn as an example ... could DH and I spilt an appy, entree, and dessert?

is this allowed?
would there be a sharing charge?

coz there is no way we could each eat an appy, entree, and a dessert ... if there is a no sharing rule we'd probably end up ordering one of each and wasting a ton of food ... which would make me feel awful.

obviously if we're at a buffet or other all-you-can eat place (WCC, Ohanas) we could not share.

any thoughts on the sci-fi scenario though?

I honestly don't know the answer to that...but all I have to say is I must be a piggy b/c I can certainly eat and appetizer, entree, and maybe dessert by myself. :earseek:

CK ...
dont get me wrong i certainly can pack it away myself ... and look like it too

but i was just thinking that after a week of eating and heat ... it might be nice to split a lunch.

I completely agree and think you should be able to split a meal. Unfortunately I don't know the answer for sure so hopefully someone will come long and answer. But for some reason when I am on vacation.....I seem to eat more towards the end of my trip b/c my stomach seems to stretch immensely and I wind up gaining 5 or 6 punds while I'm down there. LOL

Yes...you can share (at the regular, order off the menu places like sci-fi)....and I agree completely....I have NEVER been accused of being a dailnty eater...but after a few days all the big meals get to you. When we went (me, DH, and DD's age 15 and 17)...DH always ordered his own meal...but a lot of days the girls and I would order 2 meals and share between the 3 of us and we could rarely finish it all. We never had any servers that seemed to mind at all that we were sharing....very gracious....just make sure you let them know as you order that you plan to share. We did always try to leave a little extra tip to help compensate for the extra work for the 4th person.

That said we did not attempt to share at any of the signature places....they seem a little upscale to me to try and share....but places like Sci-Fi, Prime Time, etc were most happy to accomodate us.

You can share meals on the dining plan. Just not at all-you-can-eat places or buffets, like you said.

Let me get this straight: Could DH use one of his dining passes and we share the app and dessert, and then I just order an entre and pay out of pocket for it?

There's no reason you couldn't order your own entree, and then share his app, dessert (and maybe entree if you like his as well :goodvibes ). In fact, this may be preferable to the waiters. My friend and I are taking our two children on the dining plan and she is a really small eater -- I know we will either throw food away or need to share at least a meal each day, and we will share most times rather than throw. If either of us liked kids' cuisines, we would probably pick off their plates as the fourth meal, but neither she nor I like nuggets, hotdogs, mac and cheese, but our kids love it! and are probably happy we won't be "forkin" in their plates.
