I was wondering if anyone who has been lately can tell me the attitude of servers in regards to people sharing meals. I am going with three people and to save money we will be getting 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert to split at most restaurants. Like to hear any experiences you folks have had.

We took 3 trips to WDW last year, logging more than a month and a half there between June and October. Twice we had free DDP, once we paid OOP. There was never an issue with any sharing that we did--usually one meal split between my son and I.

Enjoy!

My husband and I were recently at Epcot & shared a meal at Coral Reef. I even told the waiter upfront that we had a discount. We ordered 1 appetizer to be served with the 1 entree that we ordered, and told him that we would be sharing them. They brought an extra plate for the shared entree, and we divided the appetizer between our 2 entree plates. It was not an issue at all.

I think that sharing is a great way to enjoy a lot more dining opportunities, not just saving money. Also, many entrees are way too much food for 1 person to eat, and still feel comfortable. Counterservices, snacks, drinks, etc all are great ways to share without over doing it. (and it's also more fun, I think)

I've been wondering this too. I never have enough room to try the appetizers or desserts when I have an entire entree to eat.

Some may say something about a "second plate" or "sharing charge" when 2 adults split a meal.

You could call the location for an answer.

I have never seen a charge for sharing a meal at Disney. At Marakesh, they even divided the dinner for us and brought it out on 2 plates.

The only place at Disney World that has a mention of a plate sharing charge ($10) is at Shula's. But if you are saving money, you wouldn't be eating there anyway. Disney World doesn't charge for spliting meals. Just tell the server what you want to do. One warning - if you have something like fries, you might each get a full serving of them. That's what happened when my husband and I shared a burger at Sci-Fi. They split the burger onto two plates and then added fries for the rest of the plate.

My husband and I have been sharing meals for a long time. We have shared at California Grill, Brown Derby, Citricos, Jiko, and Flying Fish just to name a few.
All of the servers have been very nice and have never even batted an eye. They do not charge for an extra plate at Disney World, but we found most of the restaurants at Disneyland do.
We do not do it for money reasons we just cannot eat 2 full meals and have an appetizer and dessert. Wish we could.
Enjoy your trip!
