Family consists of 3A & 1C....can we share 2A TS meals for all four people while on the DDP? We would ask for two extra plates & just split....obviously not at buffets.

Is this allowed?

generally speaking....NO not at all.
Everyone in your party must have the dining plan and be using it.

So far, folks report that you can share meals, but you're still required to use 1/4 of your credits for child meals.

Do remember that when you share meals, it is appropriate to provide an additional gratuity in cash; $3 per diner not ordering their own meal should be sufficient.

Thanks Bicker! & I agree absolutely on that additional gratituity!! I'm just playing around with how best to not waste food...one of the "adults" is my eleven year old son...there is NO WAY we can eat, at our table, three apps, three main courses, three desserts + a kid's meal!!

Also, if we do a character meal, we can than use a night or two of smaller portions, & still have equal meals to equal nights stayed...just a thought of course!!

Here's another question for you....the $15 coupon Planet Hollywood sends, can that be used as an extra apps in addition to our DDP TS credits? Just a thought.

We have done the dining plan 3 times and not have had a problem sharing with each other. Some places that we have been the servers have really changed their demeaner when we told them that we are sharing.

It is so much food when on the DDP and we hate to throw away all that food.
Besides it does make your credits stretch further.

It is a good idea to tip extra because your server is doing the same amount of work for less of a tip.

We really don't see anything wrong with it because it is our plan to do what we like with it.

Hope this helps.

No, we also have one of those coupons but if you read the fine print it say not to be used with DDP.

So, basicly you use it and pay out of pocket wich seems silly, or you don't use and eat for free. We really want to eat there because the appetizers look so good, but we wouldn't get appetizers if we use the coupon and pay out of pocket.

What a problem to have.

what a "good tip" amount?? We are going with 2 Adults (hubby and I) and 4 children (8yrs, 4yrs, 2yrs, and 8months). SO we have 2" children" according to the dining plan. SO the kids order from the "children's menu" and use their credits. The 8month has his own food and the 2 year old has food from hubby or I?? is this correct??

Thanks Isabell

(getting excited....)

We have split CS meals between our children, but not TS. I think sharing TS is very frowned upon.

Okay, and why is it frowned upon? That's really snobbish to say, Who really cares if people share food.... What does disney have it's own rules; if you share at a disney restaurant your'e not good enough to eat there?

:confused3

We shared many meals last year because of the volume of food. We do not like to waste and we were PLENTY full on 2 meals between the 3 of us - that was 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We did not have even one problem doing that at any tableservice restaurants...we just asked for an additional plate for DD and moved the food over ourselves. All servers were happy to oblige. I'm with the others...you purchase the plan and can use it they way it works best for your family. :thumbsup2

I don't think other guests frown upon it, but the restaurants might. I'm sure that the restaurants are "compensated" somehow for meals served on the DDP. I'm not an accounting expert, but I would imagine the meals would have to be tracked, and it would be to the restaurant's benefit to serve more meals. So, if my party of 6 adults decides to split 3 meals, we are taking up 6 seats and the restaurant isn't being compensated for that. They'd be better off seating another party or two who would actually order the 6 meals. It's an opportunity cost to the restaurant, especially during a time like free dining when ADRs are so hard to come by.

I did not say I frowned upon it. I was referring to Disney in general, because they want to make the most profit they can our of the DDP. And as stated in previous posts not all servers are nice about sharing plates or bringing extra plates. I am not a snob and it wasn't very nice of you to say that.
