We just returned from a 7 day trip, and I wanted to share my experience with the DDxDP. I know many, including myself, have had questions on sharing credits since the new "unofficial changes" came out last May. We were a party of 10 in two rooms. In one room we had 4 disney adults and 2 children, this is the room that had the dining plan. The other room was 4 disney adults. We ate most of our meals together. We did not have problems using credits from the one room to cover all of our meals. Some of the locations we ate with the whole group were: Ohana, Sci-Fi Dine-in, Teppan Edo, Via Napoli, Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe, Chef Mickey's, and HDDR.

I was a little concerned about HDDR, but I picked up the tickets on our first day, and they had no problem using all 20 credit from the dining plan to cover the entire group. We also decided to only use 6 credits at Via Napoli (only adults ordered meals) and added a large pizza for the rest of the group.

After each meal, they told us the total number of credits we had left. This was a total and never split between adults and children. We also decided at Sci-Fi to pay for the kids meals separately to save some credits, and that was no problem either. While the two 4 year olds mostly eat kids meals, they did not have any problem with them ordering off the adult menu on the couple of occasions they wanted to.

Overall, I think this is the only way the dining plan would make sense for us. Even with the large group, we ended up with a few extra credits at the end. Based on my calculations, we still ended up saving well over $1000 compared to what we would have paid OOP. This was greatly impacted by having the two children on the dining plan and using most of their credits for the adults.

If anyone has any more specific questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Did your kids ever order adult desserts? My little one will be fine with kid meals much of the time but "here have some pudding" is not going to go over well when everyone else gets awesome desserts.

Yes, the one meal I remember that one of the kids definitely ordered an adult entree was Teppan Edo, and he was able to order the adult appetizer and desert as well. At Via Napoli, the adults ended up using the credits, but the waitress did specifically tell us that, since we were on the deluxe plan, the kids could order off the adult menu and add an appetizer and adult desert.

So glad to hear this first hand. We leave in 12 days and this covered both of my concerns. My parents (winter in Florida) are popping in for a visit for 2 days and we want to cover some of their meals with our credits. Also, my 8 year old often likes the adult options better than the kids. So excited!!

We just returned from a trip Oct. 24-30 and I can also confirm the meal plan credits are now able to be applied to your entire dining party, no matter how many initially purchase it. We were a party of 7. Only one room had 3 AD with a DLX meal plan, and their credits could be used to cover our entire dinner party no matter how many of us were dining together.

This is all good to know this past trip we had the regular dining plan and out next trip in Oct we would like to try the DxDDp we will be 2 adults and 2 children age 9 at time of travel They have their moments with food and sometimes they didn't like what was on the kids menu but they had to get off the kids menu this will at least give me an option to order adult entree for them if they so desire and they would also get an appetizer I understand. We usually eat at aksershus princess breakfast, BOG, Chef Mickeys, sci fi diner, Cinderella royal table, etc .
