We are DVC members who are planning a trip in January with another family who are not members. We want to get a 2-bedroom villa for all of us. Is there a way to separate the room charges (i.e. for them to get their own charge account) or will we have to put it on our charge account and have them reimburse us? Thanks in advance.

We went with another family in June in a 2 bedroom villa. We are members and we did not put a credit card on the room. We never do. The other family are not members and did put their credit card on file and both of the adults used their MBs to charge freely. We ended up getting billed after we got home for what the wife charged on her band.

It's all good now but I can't imagine how horribly screwed up this whole thing would have been if we had also put our cc on the room. They couldn't even combine what the other couple charged to 1 card with a shared PIN. We have never had any trouble or mix up when we just use our Disney Visa for food and purchases. Ever. This way I never have to take time out of my vacation to argue with them at the front desk.

While I personally wouldn't chance it I have heard of others being successful doing what you asked about.

We did it. My parent, my brother's family, and my family in a 2 br. My parents did a credit card, we did a credit card, and my brother did a gift card. All charges stayed separate. The only hiccup was that we got a $100 room credit for a screw up, and it was basically first-come first-serve on who got to deplete that. I suppose it wasn't a hiccup as much as that is how it would normally go, even though the assumption was that it would just be available to my parents (the members).

In the pre band days each KTTW card used for room charges was listed separately on the room bill but only one CC could be put on file.

Today each MB's charges are also tracked separately but now you can assign different bands to different credit cards.

At anytime during your stay you can have the front desk print out your room bill. We always do this mid trip and the night before check out just to verify the charges.

We've never had issues splitting bills with a KTTW card. Many times we went with other family members and they have always put their own CC down.

As you say, it's always a good idea to keep an eye on your bills in any case.

Interesting, we tried this a couple of times pre-MB and the front desk would always manually add up the different charges and manually charge the cards.

We have been able to do this even with the MB. But like some, we tend to hit the front desk, when we see its not busy to get a running total. If we are close to the automatic 1500 charge, we pay down and always pay out the night before.
Never had an issue.

We've done this.
Parents: 1 card
Us: Another card
Adult kids: no card
