sharing an appetizer

Ok so I read on a website the menus for some of the restaurants and two restaurants -"Sci-Fi" and "Prime Time Cafe" - have "onion rings for two" on them. So my question is since I have the deluxe dining plan and its going to be a party of two, if i want onion rings for my appetizer does that have to be shared with my dinner guest or can she get her own appetizer too? It just confused me because it said onion rings for two.

I happened to ask this at Prime Time on May 31. I was not on the dining plan but asked about the dining plan because I was curious.

The reply was that only two people on the (deluxe, because only the deluxe gets appetizers)dining plan can order the onion rings for two. One person cannot order them and pay with one credit. It has to be shared between two guests on the dining plan and counts as both their appetizers.

There have been other posters who said they were allowed to have appetizers for two without having to share them, but none of those was specifically at Prime Time and I was not trying to get the onion rings on the deluxe plan, just asking. It can't hurt to ask but don't be surprise if they tell you it has to be two diners ordering if you're on the deluxe dining plan.

However, if you are paying for the onion rings, one person can order them. The restriction applies only to the dining plan.

I don't know about Prime Time, but I usually travel solo and in the past have asked if I could order a 1/2 order of an appetizer for two and have been denied every time. They always say two people must order them and they don't do half orders for single diners. Again I've never tried at Prime Time, but have at several other restaurants. This was on the DDP (when it included appetizers) and also this past year twice when I was on the DxDDP.

In March we where on the dxdp and wanted to share the onion rings at sci fi. I ordered them and then the server looked at DM and asked and what would you like? I asked if she got something else because the onion rings where for 2, and she said yes they are but she can something else to go with them. So DM got a salad and we shared that and the onion rings..
I guess it depend on where you are and who is taking the food order...
